Hi folks.  This week I will endeavour to introduce you to another top fancier who had a tremendous 2009 season , ending up premier p/winner in his local club, the Horseshoe HPS , based in Larne. Also before finishing this weeks report I will endeavour to give you a run down on the major p/winners within the club for the 2009 season.

Colin Campbell & Son - Horseshoe HPS - Highest prize winner in the Horseshoe HPS 2009 was the partnership of Colin Campbell & Son. When visiting Colin , to collect a few details for the report , the first thing I noticed was the family involvement and when questioning Colin ,  this was one factor that he was adamant to point out. Colin's wife Angela, who works full-time as well, helps out a great deal and Colin  is very grateful for all help received . Colin being a HGV driver leaves for work at 06.45 am and arrives home around 17.30pm..  They race the old birds on the roundabout system and the youngsters are flown on darkness. The bloodlines of the stock housed in the stock loft are : Boschiend Flyers ( Van De Weil / Schreuder ) , Brasspennings ( Direct )  and a new family just introduced from Angel Bros,  the E. Van Der Horst family .  They also have very good birds of friends and clubmates David  & Paul Harvey. The main stock bird is a cock named "Ronnie" of  Boschiend Flyer breeding. This bird came to the lofts as a 6 year old from the late Ronnie Williams of Ligoniel HPS through Brian Welch and in his first nest produced a Young Bird open winner. He is now Sire G/Sire and GG/sire of winners and prize winners. Some 2009 results are as follows. Tullamore, 1st 2nd club 467 birds, 18th 19th Open 6,420. Roscrea, 2nd club 464 birds, 26th Sect C 5,906, 46th Open 28,663. Clonmel, 9th 429 birds. Fermoy, 3rd 8th club 358 birds. The partnership also won Champion Old Bird, Old Bird League and the Young Bird League. - As you can see top results against top competition- Only a short report from a top racing loft.

Coming Events : Banbridge British Legion are hosting a Charity Breeder/Buyer sale to be held on Friday 26th March in the British Legion Banbridge. 50% of the total proceeds raised will be flown for with the other 50 % to be presented to the nominated charity , The Blue Dove Hospice , Newry . Three prizes are up for grabs – 50% 30% 20% ( split both ways) ,  with the nominated racepoint Penzance Y/B National to be flown with the INFC. Some top Y/B will be on offer donated by some of the leading lofts in Ireland. All Y/B must be in the pen on the night of the sale. Banbridge Social are hosting their annual Breeder/ Buyer Sale on Friday 12th March at 8 pm with the birds on view at 7pm . Venue for the event is the British Legion , Banbridge. Last season the club paid out approx £1,800 over four prizes. This year , with all help possible , the event will be as good. Chimney Corner Football Club will be hosting a top quality sale of youngsters donated by some of the leading lofts in the country. The sale is to be held on Thursday 4th March at 8 pm with birds on view from 7 pm and the venue is Chimney Corner Football Club , Randalstown Road, Antrim . Youngsters have already been donated by some of the top lofts in the country with all proceeds to Chimney Corner Football Club to help promote the club within the area .
