LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION

Tom Corrie jnr

Carluke & Kirkfieldbank Presentation Night.

This report takes me to the Crown Tavern in the Royal Burgh of Lanark .This year Carluke and Kirkfieldbank clubs took the opportunity to have a joint presentation, which turned out to be a rewarding venture.

Club Presidents had there fine array of cups on display and with a healthy turn out of members and friends the night was always going to be a winner.

The Crown Tavern serves up a cracking meal and again they didn't disappoint with everyone very happy.

The nights guests were Ken Buchanan & Robert Richardson of Hamilton. Both gave a great account of their time in the sport and we enjoyed their insight into how they managed their pigeons to success. Ken spoke about his Van Hee pigeons that he has raced for decades. These can be traced back to his original  Louella Motta introductions. They excel at the distance with Ken winning 1st Open Scottish National Racing Pigeon club 2015 with his Champion blue hen Troy. Timed on the night from Troyes 620 miles; what a pigeon!

First up was Carluke club President Alex Blyth took the time to introduce winners .Callum & Liz McMillan. This partnership had a cracking year at club and federation, winning a number of top section and Open prizes. The icing on the cake being 1st Open Billericay which is over 300 miles. They really had their old bird team in top condition throughout the season seeing them win most of the old bird trophies. Brilliant season Callum & Liz.

Next up was Alec Wilkie who flies a "great wee team of pigeons" using his great knowledge and experience, to cap a brilliant season to win the Combine Average & Young bird average and a number of other trophies.

Onto Kirkfieldbank and Robert Wilson(Mr Kirkfieldbank) introduced their principle winner Andy Graham, who had a fantastic season, making his mark at club, federation and National level Some of his results were breath-taking and on one occasion had over thirty birds drop together to win the race. This gives you some insight into the standard of his results which carried all the way across the water. to France. Brilliant Andy!

It was a great night and a night that always rewards those who attend. Well done to both clubs and hope it’s a annual event.
