SOUTH BIRMINGHAM FED & DISTRICT

Jeff Gleeson

2009 PRIZE PRESENTATION

THE SOUTH BIRMINGHAM FED had their prize presentation on Friday the 13th and what a terrible night [weather wise] it was with rain and wind all night, which showed in the attendance as it was not very well supported, although all the clubs had at least one member in attendance but, then again, if forty plus could make it why not others? I know of one or two who are ill and sent representetives to pick up their trophies etc, but there's no excuse for others who coudn't be asked. I remember going to my first presentation night, which was for the Saltley & DHS at Duddeston Mill Social Club with the likes of Wally Williams, Albert Armfield, Bob Swan, Bobby Gauntlett, Billy Horton, Albert Taroni, Georgie Lock, all passed on, God bless them. All characters with lovely stories to tell. This was when there were 200 people or more. Sadly it's not the case now with some clubs only getting a 1/4 of that.
