FROM SCOTLAND
Reports by Joe Murphy
I received a request from Pat Waters from Kilsyth asking if I had a copy of the Gazette from 1958; as his late father won 1st Scottish Central Combine with Mary Rose; she was on the front of the Gazette; and an article appeared inside compiled by Annie Ross Bowes. I spent some time going through my old books in the attic; finding Gazettes from 1943 upwards but no luck on Pat’s request. I wonder if anyone reading this article has a copy and if so could they photocopy it and forward it to me to send on to Pat; this would be much appreciated as a memento to Pat on his late father. Pat remembers the great names from Croy and the west section; especially Nash of Croy who won the SNFC Race with Daphne’s Delight. If you have a copy please forward to the address at the end of the column please.
Charity Sale
I received a few phone calls and pigeons from fellow fanciers who read about Lesley Derek and little Anna; this was a wonderful gesture from fellow fanciers and the family are overwhelmed with these peoples generosity. I will be compiling the advert within the next week so it should appear in the paper soon; however I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to all who supported this cause.

Joke
Six retired Irishmen were playing poker in O'Leary's apartment when Paddy Murphy loses £500 on a single hand; he clutches his chest, and drops dead at the table. Showing respect for their fallen brother, the other five continue playing standing up.
Michael O'Connor looks around and asks, 'Oh, me boys, someone has got to tell Paddy's wife; who will it be?' They draw straws and Paul Gallagher picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse.
'Discreet says Paul; I'm the most discreet Irishmen you'll ever meet. Discretion is me middle name. Leave it to me.' So Gallagher goes over to Murphy's house and knocks on the door. Mrs. Murphy answers, and asks what he wants. Gallagher declares, 'Your husband just lost £500, and is afraid to come home.' 'Tell him to drop dead!’ says Murphy's wife. 'I'll go tell him.' says Gallagher.
