Well after the long wait we are already on our third race, how time flies. On Saturday 19th April The Red Rose Federation were at Kempsey when 113 members sent 1867 birds that were liberated at 10-25 into a fresh East wind and for the third week in a row it is the loft of J.Parry & Sons of Lancaster Invitation who top the federation on 1331 with a 5 year old they are also 8th on 1240-9 with a yearling. In 2nd & 5th places are M.McCartney & Son of Carnforth on 1281 & 1266, the first a 3 year old the other a 2 year old. D.McCartney of Lancaster City takes 3rd & 4th fed on 1272 & 1268 with a 3 year old followed by a 2 year old. In 6th fed are C.Neild & Son of Morecambe on 1243 with a 5 year old. The Heysham loft of B.Holroyd & Daughter are in 7th fed on 1241 with a 2 year old. Mr & Mrs Harrington of Morecambe take 9th fed on 1240-8 with a 5 year old and Duckworth / Simpson / Duckworth of Milnthorpe complete the top ten on 1238 with a 2 year old.

The first two places to J.Parry & Sons on 1331 & 1240, the first a 3 year old followed by a yearling. Callan & Beckett are in 3rd place on 1207 - 8 with a 7 year old whilst W.Gardner takes 4th spot on 1207-7 with a yearling.

CARNFORTH:

M.McCartney & Son take the first two places on 1281 & 1266, the first a 3 year old followed by a 2 year old, taking 3rd & 4th places is H.R.Thornton on 1230 & 1217, the first a 3 year old followed by a 2 year old.

LANCASTER CITY:

First two places to D.McCartney on 1272 & 1268 the first a 3 year old followed by a 2 year old. In 3rd place is S.Foxcroft on 188 with a yearling.

MORECAMBE:

C.Neild & Son take red here on 1243 with a 5 year old. Mr & Mrs Harrington take 2nd & 4th places on 1240 & 1187 the first a 5 year old followed by a 4 year old. B.Holroyd & Daughter are in 3rd place on 1188 with a 7 year old.

HEYSHAM:

In 1st & 4th places are B.Holroyd & Daughter on 1241 & 1218, the first a 3 year old followed by a 2 year old. In 2nd place is Geoff Wallbank on 1232 with a 3 year old and Tony Bolsover & Sons are in 3rd place on 1228 with a 2 year old.

MILNTHORPE:

Duckworth / Simpson / Duckworth take top spot here on 1238 with a 2 year old, P.Robinson & Son are in 2nd & 4th places on 1217 & 1208 - 7, the first a 3 year old followed by a 4 year old, whilst R.Crowe is in 3rd place on 1208 - 9 with a 2 year old.

KENDAL:

The loft of A & A Chorley take 1st & 3rd places here on 1237 & 1216 both of these are 2 year olds. In 2nd place is P.Sarginson on 1218 again with a 2 year old and B.Blamire is in 4th spot on 1212 with a 4 year old.

FRECKLETON:

P.Howard wins this one on 1223 with a yearling.

PEMBERTON WEST:

Taking the red card here is J.Beardsmore with a yearling blue pied Van Reet hen on 1208 bred from stock of club mates P.Derricott & Son. In 2nd place on 1200 is W.Holleron with a 2-year-old blue pied Vandanabeele x Soontjen cock from stock of Billy Lees of Leeds. In 3rd place are M.Greally & Son on 1176 with a yearling dark hen bred by club mate Tony Byrne and it’s the loft of Byrne & Byrne who take 4th place on 1148 with a 2-year-old cheq Busschaert cock.

FARNWORTH:

Taking top spot here are Mr & Mrs Green on 1199 with a 4 year old Busschaert cock, in 2nd place was Graham McKay on 1162 with a red hen whilst 3rd place goes to Jack Chadwick with a red cock on 1158 and Wicker & Hardman take 4th place on 1152 with a cheq cock.

In 1st, 2nd & 4th places are yours truly P.Derricott & Son on 1962, 1889 & 1882, the first is a 4 year old blue pied Van Reet cock picking up his 7 x 1st clubs he also has 2 x 1st feds and 2 x 2nd feds and won a NWHU award in 2007, the bloodlines are R & B Smith, the late Jack Plant and Bert Hession. The second bird is a 2 year old cheq Ponderosa Jansen cock which was bred by Mr & Mrs Wilkinson & Son of Plymouth and so is a “Southern Softie” whilst the third bird is a 5 year old Lemputteen cheq pied cock which is bred from stock from Mark Glossop of Rotherham, both of the latter birds are previous 1st prize winners. Taking the first two places are Geoff O’Hare & Bob Taylor on 1313 & 1282 the first is a 4-year-old schaillie cock and the other is a 4-year-old Irish rung blue cock. Mr & Mrs Seddon take 3rd place on 1252 with a yearling cheq cock.

ST.HELENS:

In 1st, 2nd & 4th places is Mick Stockton on 1312, 1310 & 1290 these are all blue w/f yearling cocks. In 3rd place is Billy Ashcroft on 1308 with a yearling cock.

Winning this one is John Almond on 1935 with a 3-year-old red Van Reet widowhood cock; he is also 3rd on 1929 with a 3-year-old blue Van Reet roundabout hen. In 2nd place on 1934 is Eric Stanley with a 6 year old blue Van Reet widowhood cock which was 2nd in the last race and just gets pipped here, Eric is also 4th on 1885 with a black Van Reet cock on widowhood.

SUTTON OAK:

J.Rawlinson & Son wins this one on 1928 with a 2-year-old mealy cock.

ASTLAND:
