YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE

Eastrington Flying Club Prize Presentation Night

by Sue Skelton

This was held recently at the Jolly Sailor Club in Newport which also doubles as their headquarters for basketing and meetings. After a fantastic meal served up by the landlord, Chris and his staff, the presentation took place. Presenting the prizes was Carol Shipleytheir, hard-working secretary and treasurer.

Highest prize winner was George Atkinson, with most members managing to win something during the season. Other winners were Mr and Mrs W. Hagston and Family, Steve Neale, Mike Shipley, John Pickering, Graham Wardle and his helper, Dave Hayward, Steve Ireland, Stu Kendra, Koose and Marie Dobbe, Sam Etherington and last but not least, "the daft lad" Glen Thackery. It was great to see the prizes spread out among all the members.

Mary & George Atkinson

The Hagstons Butchers Free Meat nom was won during the season by every single member at one stage or another. George will be getting worried as the members are catching him up and getting closer and closer to him and not letting him have his ownway, roll on next season.

The club has two new trophies to fly for in 2008. Firstly a fantastic cup given for the best 2 bird average from the longest O.B race, kindly donatedby Walker and David Kennedy of Fife. Secondly a Y.B trophy to be flown for, from the longest Y.B race and was kindly donated by, David Ireland,Steve's brother. All the members would like to thank these fanciers for their kind gestures.

While on with the thank yous, all members would like to thank, Carol Shipley for all her help on basketing night, clock reading and the relentless work she does in keeping all their accounts in line. Also, a thankyou to Chris and his staff, of the Jolly Sailor, for all the nice meals they cook us and putting up with them during the racing season.
