YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE

Saturday the 23rd of April and 4,900 birds were liberated at Huntingdon in a Variable wind, with the lads on the East Coast topping the Combine and the coastal North section which was Jess & Jen Hotham of Filey on 1546. Topping the South Section is Steve Sellars of Bridlington on 1541. Topping the Central Section is John & Margaret Rawson on 1521. Topping the West Section is J. M. Shipley on 1515. Well done to you all.

Coastal North Section:

Filey Homing Society.  7 members sent 100 birds with the red card going to Jess and Jen Hotham on 1546 with a Hereman Ceuster hen from Louis Thijs stock. Second place went to Mervin Hinchcliffe on 1544 with a Mr & Mrs Beswick Karel Boeckx x Ally Taylor Busschaert widowhood cock which had a 3rd from Sleaford. Third place went to Colin Smith on 1529 with a Bryan Maude Janssen which had 2 x 1st last year. Fourth place went to Colin Smith on 1523 with a Louella Van Reet x Steve Sellars Box1.

Scarborough Social Club. 12 members sent 375 birds with the red card going to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1524 with an Arien Vereckt which has had a 1st Eastbourne and a 2nd Huntingdon. Second place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1500 with a Koopman x Arien Vereckt. Third place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1500 with a pigeon off a Belgium Prize winner x Hereman Ceuster. Fourth place Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1497 with an Arien Vereckt x Hereman Ceuster.

Hunmanby Homing Society.  8 members sent 177 with the red card going to Dave & Ann Beswick on 1531 with a Karel Boeckx self bred hen. Second place went to Alec Artley on 1522. Third & Fourth places went to Tony Robson on 1516 & 1512.

Loftus W.R.I.Club. 8 members sent 154 birds with the red card going to S & S Trattles on 1428 flying well and getting the same bird as last week, it must be Sheila’s touch. Second place went to McConell & Breckon on 1428 with a Busschaert hen. Third and Fourth places went to Mr & Mrs Brundle & Grandaughter on 1421 and 1413 with a pair of Busschaert home bred off Burnham & Sons stock.

Whitby Premier Club. 14 members sent 250 birds with the red card going to S. Mallinson & Son on 1503 with a yearling Van Den Brande x Guido Barberien widowhood hen which won 3rd Huntingdon 5th Billericay 8th Eastbourne as a y.b. Second place went to S Mallinson & Son on 1501 with a yearling widowhood cock bred off a pair of Frank Sheaders Karel Boeckx which was 3rd Reed as a y.b. Third place went to Brian & Jason of Storr Bros & Son on 1488 having their first race of the season with a Herman yearling roundabout cock from Ken Monkman stock. Fourth place went to Alan Richardson on 1485 with his good yearling Heremans Ceuster widowhood hen which has been his first bird for the last 3 weeks having now had 2 x 1st and is from stock off Louis Thijs. She has also had 1st Eastbourne and 1st Combine as a y.b and was 1st coastal north last week, she takes the pools.

Coastal South Section:

Bridlington D.F.C. 17 members sent 268 birds with the red card going to Ricky Wheelhouse on 1536 with a Vandenabeele hen which has won positions many times. Second place went to Mr & Mrs Mellonby on 1533 with a Clive Lister multi winning Ceuster x Gus Janssen bred by Clive Lister. Third place went to Bernard Gray on 1530 with one bred from Geoff Wilson stock. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Chadwick on 1528 with a Jess Hotham Marina V D Velde x Hartog cock.

Bridlington D.R.P.C. 9 members sent 214 birds with the red card going to Steve Sellars on 1541 with a Lindelauf x Janssen. Second place went to Steve Sellars with a pure Janssen. Third place went yet again to Steve Sellars on 1451 with a Vandenabeele that has won and carded before. Fourth place went to Ellis & Foreman on 1532.

Flamborough Homing Society. 6 members sent 51 birds with the red card going to Mick Holdsworth on 1463 with a Vandenabeele hen. Second place to Mike Farnell on 1376 with a Verheye hen. Third place to Paul Lawson on 1358 with a Janssen cock. Fourth place to John Kemp on 1352 with a Vanheye hen. Paul Lawson wins the nom.

Hedon Flying Club. 10 members sent 241 birds with the red card going to Graham Sparkes on 1536 with a yearling Hereman Ceuster. Second place went to Graham Sparkes on 1516 with another yearling Hereman Ceuster which had a 2nd Peterborough and a 3rd Huntingdon as a young bird. Third place went to W Carr & Son on 1511 with a Soontjen widowhood cock. Fourth place went to Paul & Helen Johnson on 1504 with a yearling Van Loon widowhood cock.

Withernsea Homing Society. 8 members sent 166 birds with the red card going to Graham Sparkes on 1533 with a Bosua which had a 3rd Combine last year from Billericay. Second place went to Graham Sparkes on 1521 with a Reynaert. Third place went to Graham Sparkes on 1516 with another Reynaert which had a 10th Combine from Sleaford. Fourth place went to Graham Sparkes again on 1496 with a Reynaert which was 2nd club from Huntingdon.

Hornsea & E. R. H. Society. 8 members sent 140 birds with the red card and Second and Fourth place going to Gavin Leahy on 1486 with three Vandenabeel widowhood cocks, the second placed cock won as a y.b.  Third place went to G Plant with a Karel boeckx x Staff van Rijn roundabout cock.

Western Section:

Goole L.M.S.H.S. members sent  birds with the red card going to Jackson, Andrew and Kirby on 1489 with a yearling Janssen Hofkins hen. Second place went again to Jackson, Andrew and Kirby on 1488 with another yearling Janssen Hofkins cock which has had a 6th from Huntingdon last week. Third place went to A T Tomlinson on 1464 with a yearling Janssen hen. Fourth place went to B & H Nicholls & Son on 1450 with a 6yr old Vandenabeele cock which has had 3 x 1st prizes.

Eastrington P. F. C. 10 members sent 205 birds with the red card going to Mike Shipley on 1515 with the same D. Sumners x W. Hagston pigeon that won last week and it also won the £1 nom and meat nom. Second and Fourth places went to Mr & Mrs R Brumby on 1486 and 1445 with a pair of Vandenabeele widowhood cocks. Third place went to W. Hagston & Son on 1431 with a Pete Beadle Soontjen that has scored in 7 channel races.

Haxby Flying Club. 6 members sent 153 birds with the red card going to Bill Shaw on 1463 with a 2yr old Van Reet. Second place went to Bill Shaw again on 1447 with a 2yr old Wildemeersch. Third place went to Pete Fannon on 1406 with a yearling Bratman. Fourth place went to B & C Mason on 1405 with a Delbar.

Norton I. Flying Club. 19 members sent 448 birds with the red card going to Richard Mort on 1482 with a Brian Dawson Barberien which has had 2 x 5ths last year as a y.b. Second place went to Glyn Walker on 1476 with a Karel Boeckx. Third place went to A. Marklew on 1471 with a Karel Boeckx cock which was 3rd last week. Fourth place went to Vickers & Palmer on 1459 with a Leemputten which won the first race.

Pocklington H. Society. 13 members sent 245 birds with the red card and Second and Fourth places going to G. W. Acey on 1479, 1451 and 1441 with John Redfern Hofken Janssens. Third place went to G. W. Atkinson on 1443 with a Janssen based pigeon. T Edwards wins £1 Nom.

Tang Hall W.M.H.S. 8 members sent 202 birds with the red card going to Brian Shipley on 1466 with a 2yr old Vandenabeele cock which is taking its 7th red card and has had other cards as well. Second place Shipley on 1436 with a 2yr old Vandenabeele cock which has had other prizes to its name. Third place went to Pete Fannon on 1433 with a yearling Koopman x Janssen hen which won the loft K.O. Fourth place went to Chris Booth and Steve Shipley on 1410 with a 3yr old cock from Dave Rhodes & Son which also has prizes to its name.

Central Section:

Hull Millennium Club. 11 members sent 205 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Hall on 1495 with one out of Vic & Jenny Moody Stock John also won the pools. Second place went to John and Pat on 1464 with a Kenny Towers Brasspenning winning the nom. Third place went to Dave & Trevor Green on 1463 with a pigeon that did well in the combine last year. Fourth place went to John and Pat Hall again with a 2yr old Busschaert.

Little Weighton Club. 10 members sent 128 birds with the red card going to Kev & Julie Kingston on 1465 with a yearling cock a new addition to their Nauwelaert 500 mile family taking their 2nd red card of the season. Second place went to Tony Walker on 1460 with a Dick Cawthorne of Bridlington roundabout bird. Third place went to Kev & Julie Kingston on 1421 with one of their Nauwelaert cocks sitting a big youngster, this pigeon has had many cards before. Fourth place went to Linda Fawcett & Terry Oliver on 1419 with a Vandenabeele gift bird from Dave Hawkings. They also win the beer nom.

North Hull Club. 8 members sent 80 birds with the red card going to Vic Walsh on 1465 with a yearling Ko Nipius. Second place went to Alan Appleton on 1462 with a Busschaert gift bird off Paul Stow. Third place went to Eddy Lister on 1415 with a P. Mitchell Soontjen. 

Hull Chalk Lane Club. 16 members sent 252 with the red card going to Franciosy & Bennett on 1481 with a Van den Bosch cock. Second place went to George Rudd on 1479 with a Leo V Rijn cock winning all the pools and top bird £65 Third place went to Dave Thompson on 1469 with a Janssen hen. Fourth place went to Franciosy & Bennett on 1467 with another Van D. Bosch cock.

Cottingham Homing Society. 9 members sent 140 birds with the red card going to John & Margaret Rawson on 1521 with a talented 3yr old Hereman Ceuster x Radar which has topped the Combine. Second and Third places went to Phil & Sue Sullivan on 1494 and 1491 with two of their hens of their own family of pigeons. Fourth place went to John & Margaret Rawson again on 1490 with a yearling Hereman Ceusters x Marcel Sangers.

Driffield Homing Society. 17 members sent 363 birds with the red card going to Sam Jackson on 1524 with a Gus Janssen x Hereman Ceuster bred by Clive Lister which had a 1st and a 2nd as a young bird. Second place went to Peter Dixon on 1521 with a Ray Bell Busschaert x Staf Van Reet. Third place went to Sam Jackson on 1520 with a Gus Janssen x Hereman Ceuster which had a 1st as a young bird. Fourth place went to Sam Jackson again on 1487 with a Hereman Ceuster/K. Mellonby/C. Vasey which was 2nd club and 1st section Sleaford. P. Dixon wins the pools and Maxine Edeson with the bonus ball.
