YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE
by Sue Skelton LOFTUS W. R. I. CLUB Held its presentation afternoon on Saturday the 30th of January at the Cricket Club. The guests of honour were Julie Kennedy & Dave Murgatroyd. The Inland Old Bird Average was a close thing with Sayers Brothers Ken, Brian & Dave who fly a good bird and a hard loft to get past winning the Inland trophy and the overall old bird Average trophy and the combine Old & Young bird average and also winning 7 x 1st. Mr & Mrs Brundle & Grandaughter come a close second for the Inland Average and also won 5 x 1st prizes. The Channel Average winners were McConnell & Breckon who also won the Ken Rawson trophy for Clermont and best old bird trophy and had 2 x 1st prizes. Young bird racing was a runaway for the team of Riley, Yeoman & Phillips who had 7 x 1st and won the young bird Average and took the best young bird Trophy. They flew very well, taking 4 & 5 positions. Ricky Halton & Son Shay also had 2 x 1st and also Mrs Jan Bailes & Family took 2 x 1st. After the Presentation there was an excellent buffet put on byRebecca Mc Connell, Danny's better half then it was time for the quiz which had been compiled by Ricky Halton on pigeons.
