MILTON KEYNES SR Norman Harvey On 3-5-08 the club were at Poole when 9 members sent 151 birds. The weather was lovely with a moderate south-east wind and the birds were liberated at 8.00am. Mick and I were sitting in the garden 1.5hrs too early wishing for a winner. We had the ETS on and a good job too as we were both half a kip by the time our 1st bird arrived - only joking. The club winner to John Cave, the longest flyer in the club, with a vel of 1457 with a w/h cock, a dk-ch P. Beaumont SVR bred by John in 2006. He's 108 mls from Poole - well done John. We, Harvey & Warner, were 2nd vel 1416 with a late-bred dk-ck cock on natural (all the others are having counselling). 3rd Petherbridge & Pollitt on 1407 with a purple Haze x Stichelbaut. This pigeon had two fed cards as a young bird. The Stichelbaut came from Scotty and Steve's friends Fuzz and Val Farrow. 4th place Will Fosh alias Bill The Pink Bike (and it's a ladies bike) with a b.bar cock on natural with a vel of 1376. Home bred in 2006. it has been 2nd twice from Tours. Well done Bill. We might all need a bike soon. On the 10-5-08 MK club were at West Bay when 10 members sent 190 birds. There was no wind at West Bay but plenty of wind here sitting next to me! Anyway we won - it must be that ETS. Our vel was 1391 with a pencil pied cock on his first time on w/h. His sire won 1st Harrowden and 2nd fed amongst other positions, and his dam is Micklenorm. Then we went back to sleep for 20 mins and our next bird was 1229. 2nd & 3rd were Petherbridge & Pollitt on 1294 & 1286. 1st bird was a red ch called Rufus on natural/widowhood. He's 4y and is going back to Barcelona this year. Their 2nd bird was their 1st bird last week when he was 3rd club. Why do I always feel like I have smoked something when Ii write about Scotty & Steve's birds. Itt must be that purple Haze lark. 4th Roger Holdom vel 1263 with a b w/f Le-Clerq cock on w/h. He was 5th from Portsmouth this year in the club and 3rd from Forgeres last year plus 5th Harrowden fed 2004. Roger had a bad accident some months ago when he fell off a ladder at work and was seriously injured. You should have kept your arm brace on a bit longer and you wouldnt have been lumbered by Barry to do the clocks. Still, well done mate. We'll have to build a bigger signal fire next week so we get them all home together but the neighbour's complained because we set their hedge alight. Good luck everybody. Norman 01908-565072.
