Saturday the 11th of July and it is the last Old Bird Inland race and the forecast was to be one of the hottest days of the season so John got the birds up early at 7am in a West South West wind with everyone reporting an excellent race. Topping the Combine and the North section is Dave & Ann Beswick of Hunmanby on 1635. Topping the South Section is Ellis & Foreman of Bridlington on 1632. Topping the Central Section is Bob & Ellen Stephenson on 1559. Topping the West Section is Mike Shipley of Eastrington on 1579,
Coastal North Section:
Filey Homing Society. 6 members sent 89 birds with the red card going to Hotham & Ruston on 1625 with a hen bred by Marina Van D Velde of Belgium. Second place went to Hotham & Ruston on 1605 with another hen bred by Marina Van D Velde which has had numerous cards. Third place went to Mervin Hinchliffe on 1598 with a Burgess Bros Houben. Fourth place went to Colin Smith on 1590 with a Bryan Maude Janssen hen sitting 10 days.
Hunmanby Homing Society. 8 members sent 102 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Beswick on 1635 with a 2yr old Karel Boeckx cock which was 1st section 2nd Open as a y/b and 1st section 3rd Open from Sleaford this year. Second place went to Tony Robson on 1623 no details. Third place went to Mr & Mrs Beswick on 1623 with a yearling Karel Boeckxcock. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Beswick on 1622 with a yearling Karel Boeckx cock who won as a young bird and has had two other cards this year.
Loftus W.R.I.Club.9 members sent 114 birds with the red card going to Sayers Bros on 1520 with a 3yr old hen bred from Colin Hughes of Wales. Second went to Sayers Bros again on 1513 with a Winkle hen which was first from Billericay and is bred off his own stock. Third place went to S & S Trattles on 1505 with a Van Osche hen the Grand sire was champion of Holland in 1993/ 94. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Brundle & granddaughter with a Busschaert hen.

Scarborough Social Club. 11 members sent 208 birds with the red card going to Roger Grundy on 1614 with a Willie Vranken which has had a few cards now. Second and Third places went to Roger Grundy on 1609 and 1607 with a pair of Mr & Mrs Beswicks Karel Boeckx x Dean Ingle Karel Boeckx which have a couple of cards apiece. Fourth place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1601 with a Vandenabeele x Koopman which has already had a 1st Huntingdon and a 2nd Billericay this year.
Whitby Premier Club. 10 members sent 132 birds with the red card going to S. Mallinson & Son on 1581 with a yearling widowhood cock that won Reed and is off a multi winning Barberien 1 Stock cock x with a direct Guido Barberien of Berlaar. Second place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1576 with a 2yr old Karel Boeckx widowhood cock from Robert's good friend Frank Sheader x a Direct Josef Goovaerts of Beerzell which has now had 3 x 2nd this year a 3rd Billericay and a 6th and a 7th Third place went yet again to S. Mallinson & Son on 1572 with a yearling widowhood cock bred from there direct Van Dan Brande Bros of Berlaar stockand it was 7th Reed 2 weeks ago. Fourth place went to Alan Richardson on 1566 with a 3yr old cock sitting 4 days and is bred by Lucien Geerts of Belgium, this cock was 2nd Arras, and its had a 2nd a 4th and a 5th Billericay and a 3rd to his name. Winspear & Wood win the pools.

x Bob Anderson hen from Wingate lines on the sire's side. Third place went to Ricky Wheelhouse on 1627 with a yearling hen. Fourth place went to Kerry & Lisa Mellonby on 1626 with a muti prize winning Deighton & Lister Gaby hen.
Bridlington D.R.P.C. 9 members sent 140 birds with the red card going to Ellis& Foreman on 1632 with an Hofkens which has had many 1st prizes and is bred from Jackson, Andrews & Kirby's No 1 stock cock Gran Canaeria. Second place went to Ellis & Foreman on 1615 with a M & D Evans x Joop Kop which is bred by M. Kirby and already has had a 1st last week. Third place went yet again to Ellis & Foreman on 1615 with another multi card winningHofkens. Fourth place went to Mark Slater on 1605 with a Janssen.
Flamborough Homing Society. 5 members sent 31 birds with the red card going Mike Farnell on 1498 with a Van Heecock. Second place went to Mick Holdsworth on 1475 with ahen a gift bird from Don Burrows of Wales. Third place went to John Kemp on 1428 with ahen from his own stock.
Hedon Flying Club. 8 members sent 102 birds with the red card going to Paul & Helen Johnson on 1625 with a yearling Johnson/Greenwood/Wilson Van Loon widowhood cock which has already had a previous win and 2 x 2nds this year. Second place went to Paul & Helen Johnson on 1597 with a yearling Peter Van der Merwe widowhood cock taking its first red card. Third place went to Paul & Helen Johnson on 1592 with a 3yr old multi card winning Johnson/Greenwood/Wilson Van Loon widowhood cock. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Lister on 1576 with a 3yr old Page Janssen widowhood cock that hasn’t won but taken 9 x 2nds.
Withernsea Homing Society. 6 members sent 19 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Dodson on 1342 with a Phil Curtis pigeon that is taking its 5th win from Billericay. Second place went to Trevor Robinson on 1329 with a yearling cock which has flown all the races. Third place went to Dean Adamson on 1324 with a cock that carded from Huntingdon. Fourth place went to Dean Adamson again on 1313 with a pigeon that was taking its first card.
Central Section:
Hull Millennium Club. 8 members sent 101 birds with the red card going to Bob and Ellen Stephenson ( Bob is now know as Hawii Man due to his bright coloured shirts) on 1559 with a Soontjen hen that won the last Billericay. Second place went to Bob and Ellen Stephenson again on 1538 with a Kev Green x Minster strag which has won for them already this year. Third place went to H. Cullingworth with a Van Reet hen bred out of Bernard Withers birds. Fourth place went to Mike Green and his Dad George on 1502 with a Janssen cock bred out of Bri Palmer stock.
Little Weighton Club. 7 members sent 49 birds with the red card going to T. Walker on 1453 with a roundabout cock which is taking its 3rd card of the season and was bred for him by his good friend Dick Cawthorne of Bridlington it also wins the beer nom. Second Third and Fourth place went to Dennis Jackson and Arthur Fletcher with four grandsons of his Whitby Boy.
North Hull Club. 8 members sent 67 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Crawford on 1507 with a consistent yearling Van Reet. Second place went to Mr & Mrs Crawford on 1478 with a 2yr old Van Reet cock. Third and Fourth places went to P. Mitchell & Son on 1457 and 1445 with a pair of yearling cocks. Also well done to Brian and Val Whincup with the only bird in the club on the day from Nevers.
Hull Chalk Lane Club. 14 members sent 141 birds with the red card going to Franciosy & Bennett on 1542with a Janssen x Van den Bosch cock which won last year. Second place went to Franciosy & Bennett on 1542 with a Van D. Bosch Tather which has had 3 x 1st prizes. Third place went to Petherbridge & Coates on 1534 with a very consistant Busschaert cock at this race point, they also won all the pools and top bird £62. Fourth place went to Wade & James on 1530 with a Vandenabeele cock which has won from this race point before.
Cottingham Homing Society. 9 members sent 88 birds with the red card going to Phil & Sue Sullivan on 1558 with a hen he call ‘Sat Nav’. This hen topped the combine from the last Billericay. Second and Fourth place went to John & Margaret Rawson on 1558 and 1522 with two of their successful Hereman Cousters x their old Radar Family. Third place went to J & A Norris on 1534 with an unpaired Alan Maul of Wales hen. The club is having its first season and has been in the section every week.
Western Section:
Acomb W.M.H.S. 19 members sent 288 birds with the red card going to B & P Craven on 1570 with a Gus Janssen bred by Clive Lister. Second place went to B & P Cravenon 1570 with a Flor Engels x Gerard Brackman. Third place went to B. Jackson on 1560 with one of his famous Jenko family. Fourth place went to D & S Rhodes1558 with a Koopman.
Goole L.M.S.H.S. 16 members sent 205 birds with the red card going to B & H Nicholls & Son on 1549 with a self bred Vandenabeele from M & D Evans stock, this bird won two first prizes as a yearling. Second place went to M. Brighton on 1548 with a son of one of Micks best ever racing cocks which won over 25 prize cards.
Third place went to D. M. Williams & Son on 1547 with a self bred Van Elsacker from Stock from their friends in Wales. Fourth place went to M. Brighton on 1546 with a self bred from M & D Evans Stock a son of Shadow.
Burton Lane Club. 5 members sent 58 birds with the red card going to with the red card going to Coxon & Leesing on 1488 with a Dennis Sapin. Second Third and Fourth places go to Barker & Cain on 1466, 1445 & 1444 all with Van Loons.
Eastrington Rose & Crown. 7 members sent 67 birds with the red card going to Mike Shipley on 1579 with the same Dereck Sumner pigeon that has now won four races this year plus other cards. Second Third and Fourth places went to Mr & Mrs Brumby on 1570, 1560 and 1528 with their Gaby Vandenabeeles. Wardle & Hayward won the Meat & £1 nom.
Norton I. Flying Club. 16 members sent 205 birds with the red card going to Brain Greenley on 1564 with a Borgman Klak widowhood cock. Second place went to B. Ford & Son on 1560 with a Cor Leitjen x Lareman which was 5th from the last Billericay. Third place went to Brian Greenley on 1555 with a very consistent Van Loon widowhood cock. Fourth place went to G. Walker on 1553 with a Nauwelaert widowhood hen which has had a 3rd Billericay.
Pocklington H. Society. 9 members sent 103 birds with the red card going to G. W Atkinson on 1509 with a Van de Rhee taking its 4th win of the season. Second and fourth place went to G. W Atkinson on 1500 and 1492 with a pair of Janssens. Third place went to K & M Dobbe on 1494 with one of his Dutch pigeons
Tang Hall W.M.H.S. 6 members sent 81 birds with the red card going to Bryan Shipley on 1546 with a Vandenabeele yearling cock which has had 4 x 1st and other cards this year. Second place went to Chris & Barry Mason on 1540 with a yearling Delbar cock. Third place went to Bryan Shipley on 1538 with another Vandenabeele cock. Fourth place went to Chris & Barry Mason on 1531 with a yearling Delbar x Janssen cock which has had other prizes this year.
