When we talked to Tommy about these pigeons this is what he had to say: "We offer a genuine reduction sale of quality stock birds and race birds bred from our stock team. Father time is catching up with me so the decision has been made to relieve the pressure. This is a family of pigeons that have been at the top for many years. We have been premier prize-winners 24 times in the last 25 years topping the mighty North Staffs Fed many times with up to 11,000 birds. I can assure you that we are not in the Golden Mile, far from it, we are in the West Section of the Federation. In the past 12 years we have won the old bird land average 8 times, and to win this you have to compete against 50,000 birds plus during the season. The North Staffs Fed is probably the largest in the Midlands. When I retired I decided to introduce a few channel birds and in a short period of time we have topped the Section 4 times flying in the Midlands NFC and Midland Classic plus many other positions winning over £10,000 in prize and pool money. In 2002 the Federation was 100 years old so we decided to race the full programme becoming Federation Champions plus Combine average of the Championship club, something that we shall always treasure very highly. All that we have achieved with pigeons has been done with just a handful and not panniers full. A true saying is that Quality is better than Quantity". - Tommy Shaw & Son.

Auctioneer: These are PROBABLY the best selection of pigeons that will be on offer this winter, pigeons that have won on the road and bred many winners. This is not a weeding out sale but a major reduction sale of quality pigeons due to circumstances. I could say over 500 x 1sts won by this loft. I know that we are not far off target and probably underestimating so I shall just say that many 1sts have been won in Club, Federation, National and Classic competition by these legends of the North Staffs Fed.
