BLACKPOOL 2009

Well it’s come and gone once again we’ve been home a week and are just about back on top of things, as you can imagine there’s a lot of work involved in the pigeons that we have, so getting some-one to come in and feed and water is about all that you can ask when some-one is doing you a huge favour like that,

Luckily for us our good friend Mathieu Buret was off work due to the snow that we had here so we know that the birds were in capable hands. So thanks Mathieu for making it possible for us to get away to Blackpool

Our Connor and good friend Mathieu Buret 2nd in Command if we go away!!

This was our first year at Blackpool  & Doncaster for having a stand and my God is it a big headache getting everything together, but we did it.

For those of you that bought birds from us we hope they do you proud, please keep us posted as we would love to know how they breed for you or perform if you are going to race them. For those of you that came and said hello it was lovely to meet you as I do like to put a face to a name.

I’d like to thank Lee Fribbins for all his help as nothing was too much trouble at Blackpool and Doncaster, we never did get to have that beer Lee you’ll have to come here for a few you can do your article too that you’ve been promising!! I know how busy you are so when you can get here will be great try and make it before the season starts.

We arrived in Blackpool 5am Thursday morning and by 6am were tucked up in bed in our hotel “The Cliffs” then we were up and drove down to the Winter Gardens to get the birds settled and fed and watered after this we met up with our old mates Keith and Ang and Mick and Dee Vaughn for a few bevies to get the weekend underway then true to form us girls hit the shops! Then everything after that is a bit of a blur I know we did Roxies Friday and Saturday after Nelly Deans and obviously fitted in the show during the day and bless him my John didn’t leave the stand once to have a quick pint as is the norm for us to walk in through the main doors and turn right straight into the Galleon bar  as he needed to be at the stand to talk to people about the race and the pigeons.

Our stand at Blackpool a couple of fanciers paying Linda their deposits for this year’s entry into our race!

My John there showing some of the birds for sale

We are really really ecstatic this year as we have had many deposits in for a perch for this year,

We too have a minimum of 30 confirmed from Trinidad possibly more; a Dutch fancier Anton Van Oort has reserved 6 places so I don’t think it is going to be too difficult for us to reach maximum capacity this year so very exciting times ahead Barcelona wont know what’s hit it!!!!!

There’s not much really to tell you about the birds as they are still shut down for the shoot season I think there’s  3 or 4 weeks left then we can start letting them out again, I do like to see them flying and bathing outside they seem so relaxed.

Since we got back from Blackpool John has been working in the garage most nights till gone midnight making and painting new perches similar to the ones at Dream Breed lofts he has made these so we can get rid of the v-perches in the aviaries so there’s no cleaning them every night we just go over the floor grills with a stiff broom job done!

Well not much more to say other than we will be pairing up in the next week or so then it’s all go, go, go!

I’ll leave you with a selection of my photos from Blackpool and Doncaster.
