BICC Croddy Nom Winners 2009

A total of £6,600 was paid out to the winners. The members that attended the B I C C prize presentation were presented with their winnings on the night, the rest will have received theirs by post.
The first National race of 2009 from Falaise saw Brian Baxter winning £500. As I type his name, I feel very sad, as it will be the last time that Brian will pick up prize money. As he is very ill and only the week before this presentation he had a sale and sold all his pigeons. We have known Brian and his wife Jill since the 70s, our Children went to the same school and we have raced in the same pigeon clubs. I would like to think that during the summer months he might be well enough to go to the Pigeon club for a drink with his old friends. A vote of thanks to Ron Croddy for all his hard work in running this nom. And congratulations to the members who picked up vast sums of money. I did notice that a lot of money went into some pockets. Meg Murray and I are going shopping on Friday and I am sure I will be able to help her spend her winnings.
There was another presentation on the night from the The Greater Distance Single Bird NFC these members are all distance flyers. Padfield Family from Abertillery were 1st Open 1st Sec A, with their nominated bird from BICC Barcelona and they won the Jim Peters Cup, the Bill Aherne Bronze Pigeon and The Ansom Moore Cup. Mr & Mrs Rhodes from Aylesham were 2nd Open 2nd Section A, from Barcelona with the B I C C. for which they won the Chris Bolson Cup, they were also 1st Open 1st Sec A BICC Perpignan. They also won The War Memorial Cup for the lowest winning velocity. Malcolm Gaiter was 2nd Open 2nd Sec A BICC Perpignan. Rose Wills is the Secretary of this club and presented the trophies, as I was there taking photos I offered to take photos for them, and write the details for both clubs. Not belonging to either The Croddy Nom or the Greater Distance club, unfortunately I do not know a great deal about them.
