The North West Classic Club recently held the AGM at the Boars Hotel Middlewich on the 6th February when 18 members attended.

The meeting saw Chairman Mike O’Hare go through the first part of the meeting with the minutes of the last AGM followed by the accept of the balance sheet and 14 resignations.

Next on the Agenda was the all-important election of the 2017 officials a time when most go quiet. As always there are some good willing members who take up these positions and they are as follows.

President; Mark Smith.

Chairman; Mike O’Hare.

Secretary/Treasurer; Les J Parkinson

Auditors; Dave Healey & Peter Latham

Clock setter’s; Middlewich Brian Lee & John Brocklehurst

                         Cheadle will be headed up by Ray Bullen

                                Cheadle to be announced

There was only one proposition from Smith & Eastwood that was ruled unworkable but to be discussed at a meeting after the AGM.

The AGM was then closed and an ordinary meeting opened.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and passed as seen.

There were 14 new members accepted and the new secretary pointed out that there were other’s making enquiries.

The race programme was a little undecided because there is a lot of movement with transportation. However, the following races were confirmed on the night;

27th May 2017 Countances

10th June 2017 Fougeres

24th June 2017 Messac.

The races for the proposed Saintes race to be confirmed after enquiries with organisations going to this race point.

The Young Bird Race will also be confirmed at a later date when the committee have met.

Next on the agenda was the letter from Smith & Eastwood regarding the payment of monies won. The secretary assured the meeting that all monies will be paid out as soon as possible after the race hoping that on each occasion this will be within 3 weeks of any race.

The Young Bird Gold Ring Race will go ahead once again in conjunction with the Young Bird Race from across the channel.

The rings must be nominated and paid for by the 1st July 2017, no nominations will be accepted after this date. Each member will be allowed to enter up to 20 rings at £10 each. The meeting closed at 9.15pm.

Footnote from the secretary;

To make the club run efficiently I will need the co-operation of officials and members and the aim will be to produce a result as soon as is humanly possible after the races are held. I am hoping to make arrangements with Ray Bullen to get the results into my office on the day after each race. Providing we can meet this target the result will be published on that day. These results will appear on the new North West Classic Club web site which is being done free of charge by sponsors Elimar Pigeon Services.

To help take the club forward and ensure a good future I will be doing the job free of charge during 2017. I cannot make any commitment past the first year because we do not know when the circumstances are likely to change. However, I will be looking at this same agreement in following years proving I am still holding this position.
