The
late
JACK ROBERTS
A
legend of the sport
One
day Jack decided to sit down and set him self an agenda for life, this
is that agenda that he lived by all his life.
"To
myself - Jack Roberts".
- To be industrious and
progressive in thought.
- To be fair to all whom
I have dealings with.
- To have time for others
at all times.
- To be especially considerate
to children and the aged.
- To be humble at all
times.
- To consider others before
myself.
- To always remember to
thank those who show kindness to me and especially to remember to thank
those who may prepare a meal for me.
- To never make those
around me into slaves or servants and to repay their kindness and consideration
with similar endeavours.
- To treat all equal,
however deep or shallow their pockets.
- To never hurt anyone
physically or mentally.
- To keep your values
if life in true perspective.
- To think deeply what
life is really about.
- To always appreciate
gods gift of nature, which surrounds me, don't pass any day away without
a good look at all the beautiful things and people around me. Life is
a treasure. Grasp it with both hands.
- To be contented but
not to waste time.
- To be thankful, Walking
through life with you Pamela will be a good and gracious thing.
- To appreciate good health,
ones real wealth.
- To thank those I love
so dearly for my happiness.
- To be humble and unassuming
and a lover of truth.
- To be kind and sincere
in all my dealings and have good manners.
- To be reliable, guided
by justice and integrity.
"I
love you Pamela and I shall until the day I die." Signed Jack Roberts
1954.
As
we are all aware the late Jack Roberts had some very good pigeons and
that could not have been confirmed in a better way than a letter that
Jack received in 1942. The letter was from his father who was serving
in the war; Jack had supplied pigeons for the Western Command Pigeon service.
These pigeons had served our heroes well and more were required and as
with everything he ever did Jack only ever supplied the best. Jack's father
went on to say that it was a pity he had not taken an earlier active part
in the birds so did not know the type of birds that they required. However
the very knowledgeable Jack did and also gave the advice about pairing
the birds for the future. There are many fanciers who had pigeons from
Jack over the years that proved very successful. A pigeon fancier gone
who spent his life devoted to his wife, family and pigeons.
