Saturday July 15th saw the final old bird race for the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation from Ancenis.

The pigeons were liberated at 07-35 in a light north east wind.Taking three of the first four positions in Derby Premier was L.D.S. Johnson. Their winner was a two year old red hen doing 1284 followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1197 then a two year old red cock doing 1081.In third position with a three year old blue cock doing 1097 was John Coote. Winner of the inland averages and Fourgers trophy is Paul & Lynda Todd.L.D.S.Johnson win Messac trophy & channel averages. John Coote wins Carentan trophy.

Saturday July 29th was the start of the young bird programme for both the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation. 

 

First to liberate was the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation who were at Windrush with the pigeons being liberated at 08-45 in a south west wind.

 

Making a clean sweep in Derby Premier was the Oakwood loft of Paul & Lynda Todd.Their winner was a Dk/ch cock doing 1654 followed by a cheq hen doing 1642 then a cheq cock doing 1455 with a ch/pied cock doing 1237 to take fourth.

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation got theirs away at Cheltenham at 09-30 on a south west wind. Getting the first four pigeons into Derby and making a clean sweep in The Brackens South Road Homing Society was Paul & Lynda Todd.Taking the red card was a blue hen doing 1699 followed by a b/pied hen doing 1696 then a blue cock doing 1694 then a b/pied cock doing 1693.

 

In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club John & Pamela Dowd had a brilliant days racing making a clean sweep in their club doing 1735,1734.6,1734.2 & 1733.Getting the icing on the cake taking the first fifteen positions in the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation.Excellent performance.

In Etwall & District Flying Club Alan & Liz Houldsworth made it a clean sweep with a mealy cock doing 1680 whose dam was gifted to them by Mick Willis & Family.Their next three pigeons were all blue cocks doing 1677.6,1677.3 & 1674.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Stone took the first three positions doing 1672.2.1672.1 & 1634.5 which were all blue cocks.

In fourth was S & H W Hall with a cheq hen doing 1625.
