Mid Cheshire

 

Racing young birds is now in the final stages and the Middlewich FC were at Mangotsfield when 6 members sent 50 birds. W Wilson & Son have had a good season winning 15 x 1sts this season and this week took the top two positions on 1481/1448ypm with their first finishing 8th Fed. Mark & Heather Smith came home third after their first entry recorded a vel of 1405ypm.

 

Over at Acton Bridge it was business as usual with the top 4 positions going to Curtiss-Wall-Lunt who also took the first 4 in the Mid Cheshire Fed where 48 members sent 950 birds to be liberated at 9.45am in no wind. They had a team drop together with the first 4 recording vels of 1522 x 2/1521.8/1521.3ypm. This week’s first three for Curtis-Wall-Lunt in the fed are all chequer hens with a blue hen collecting 4th fed all being from their excellent Leo Hereman stock. The blue hen as already picked up 2nd & 4th fed behind loft mates, and only a young hen who has not been lucky yet but no doubt her

day will come.

 

The Middlewich 5B were at Yeovil when 4 sent 44 with once again W Wilson & Son taking the first 2 positions on 1445/1421ypm. 3rd went to Ron Woodward recording a vel of 1404ypm ahead of 4th placed Ted Carson on 1385ypm. These were racing in the South West Cheshire Fed where 41 sent 638 birds liberated at 9.30am with no wind. The fed was topped by Colin Lindop from the Crewe West End club.
