Mid Cheshire

We are now at the thick end of racing from across the channel into the North West with the odd land races which was the case this week when many fanciers had a choice of channel or sprint racing. The clubs do suffer at this time of the year when there are so many National and Classic races available. The Mid Cheshire fed were at Fougeres when 43 members entered 342 birds to be liberated at 10.10am in a South West Wind with the Fed winners being Mr & Mrs Sylvester from the Kingsway club.

In the Middlewich FC Peter & Dawn Latham topped the list and are now back in full swing after deciding to go off on holiday just as the pigeons started, bad organisation that is Peter.

The Middlewich 5B had two races over the weekend the first being from Fougeres when 12 members sent 72 birds. This was a good race in the South West Cheshire Fed for the Middlewich members who are 1st 2nd 4th 5th 6th 7th Fed. Top of the list are Mark & Heather Smith who clocked a yearling chequer hen on 1933ypm. 2nd club and fed goes to Jimmy Smith who clocked a blue cock on 1922ypm. 3rd club 4th fed sees Mr & Mrs Dave Healey pick up another card after seeing a 2yo chequer hen drop through the trap. Ron Woodward took the next two positions with the first being a yearling blue hen on 1845ypm. The club were also at Bath when 54 members sent 644 birds liberated at 10.45am in a strong south wind which was reflected in the velocities. Alan Groom is 1st & 3rd club 5th & 9th fed on 2158/2148ypm with two yearling blue cocks, Alan was winning when I joined the club in 1969. 2nd club 8th fed goes to W Wilson & Son recording a vel of 2150ypm with a 3yo blue cock with Peter & Dawn Latham being 4th on 2133ypm. In this race, the fed was topped by Mr & Mrs Carl Rowledge on 2206ypm, a real fast race.
