DERBY NOTES

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation opened their 2019 season with their first race from Upper Heyford where 65 members sent 1294 birds. The pigeons were liberated at 08-40 in a light north east wind with plenty of blue skies & sunshine.

 

Topping the fed in this opening race was Woodhouse member D. Gill with a yearling blue hen doing 1511.3, with a chequer pied hen taking ninth doing 1494.7. Second & third positions went to Selston members D. Willis & Family. Their first pigeon doing 1507.6 and their second pigeon a yearling mealy hen doing 1507.3.M & L Herbert Poolsbrook took fourth with a three year old blue hen doing 1505.2.Woodhouse members took the next two positions with B & C Brelsford & Son in fifth with a yearling blue cock doing 1503.2 followed by S. Carder in sixth with a yearling blue hen doing 1500.5.It was Jepson & Bennett Poolsbrook in seventh with a two year old blue cock doing 1499.2.Eighth went to Selston member Monty Buxton with a yearling cock doing 1496.3.Mr & Mrs A. Jackson took tenth doing 1493.7.

Club News.

 

D. Gill gets the winner in Woodhouse with a yearling blue hen doing 1511.3 which also tops the fed. His next pigeon was a yearling cheq pied hen doing 1494.7 to take fourth. In second was B & C Brelsford & Son with a yearling blue cock doing 1503.3 with S. Carder in third with a yearling blue hen doing 1500.5.

 

D. Willis & Family took the first two positions in Selston with their winner a two year old doing 1507.6 followed by a yearling mealy hen doing 1507.3.In second & Third was Monty Buxton with two cocks yearling doing 1496.3 & 1482.4. 

 

M & L Herbert took the red card in Poolsbrook also fourth with a three-year-old blue hen doing 1505.2 to take the red card, then a two-year-old blue hen doing 1463.6 to take third. In second & fourth was Jepson & Bennett with a two year old blue cock doing 1499.2 taking second and a yearling cheq hen doing 1459.9 taking fourth.

 

R. Coope took the top two spots in South Normanton with two blue cocks, A three old doing 1480.7 and a yearling doing 1478.9, followed by R. Slingsby in third & fourth with a yearling blue hen doing 1470.2 followed by a two-year-old cheq cock doing 1465.9.

 

D. Trow made it a clean sweep in Swallownest. His winner was a three-year-old blue cock doing 1477.2 taking the red card followed by a yearling blue cock doing 1467.3 then a four year old blue cock doing 1457.5 and a yearling blue cock doing 1441.7.

 

Broughtons, Geelan & Goodwin made it a clean sweep in Park taking the first four positions. Their winner was a yearling blue cock doing 1471.6 with their next three pigeons all hens with a blue pied yearling hen doing 1469.4 then a yearling cheq hen doing 1469.2 and their last pigeon a two year old doing 1466.3.

 

In Railway Inn South it was a clean sweep for F & T Salt Brothers & Son taking the first four positions with a four year old blue cock doing 1461.6 taking the red card followed by a yearling cheq cock doing 1461.1 then a three year old blue cock doing 1445.1 with a yearling cheq cock doing 1405.3.

 

J. Barker got the winner in Storey Arms with a two-year-old pied cock doing 1407.1 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 1359.3 to take fourth. In second & third was Abd Spiby with a two year old pied hen doing 1399.9 taking second then a three year old blue cock doing 1398.9 in third.

L. Hall & Parkin get the red card in Kilburn with a yearling b/pied cock doing 1311.7 followed by R. Parkin & Hall taking second & third. Their first pigeon was a blue cock doing 1304.8 followed by a b/pied cock doing 1301.2 both yearlings, with Stuart Wainwright in fourth with a four-year-old blue hen doing 1289.6
