AROUND THE UP NORTH COMBINE

Chapman & Sons of Seaham, Three Times UNC Bird of the Year

By Good Corn

I have watched the top racing performances of Chapman & Sons of Seaham for a very long time and I have to say that their top class winning performances are up there with the very best fanciers in the Up North Combine. I will highlight just a few of the lofts previous very impressive winning performances. In 2011 4 x 1st North East Counties Federations were won including 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st Section and 2nd Up North Combine Clermont winning a UNC Silver Medal out of 10,299 birds, 8th North of England Homing Union “Queens Cup” from a convoy of 13,961 birds. In 2012 Chapman & Sons were the winners of 9 x 1st North East Counties Federations which included winning 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st Section and 3rd Up North Combine Lillers (2) winning a UNC Bronze Medal from a convoy of 11,875 birds. Moving onto 2015 where 4 x 1st North East Counties Federations were won, including winning 1st Club, 1st Fed, 2nd Section and 2nd Up North Combine Eastbourne (1) National winning a UNC Silver Medal from a convoy of 18,418 birds, 2nd North of England Homing Union when there were 24,881 birds competing. The partnership was also runners-up Up North Combine Channel Average, which was a fantastic achievement. In 2016 the partnership of Chapman & Sons were the winners of 13 x 1st Clubs, 7 x 1st North East Counties Federations and 2 x 1st Section 4, which included them winning 1st Club, 3rd Fed, 4th Section and 11th Up North Combine Eastbourne (1) National from a convoy of 7,474 birds. Who knows what the future holds for the loft of Chapman & Sons of Seaham? But whatever is achieved, will be well-deserved due to the fact Colin puts a lot of hard work and dedication into his Pigeons.

“Heather’s Joy” was raced natural as a young bird, where she competed in four of the nine 2014 young bird races. The top performing chequer hen is a daughter of “Luke” the winner of

1st Club, 1st Fed and 11th Up North Combine Eastbourne Yearling National from a convoy of 7,030 birds in 2010. In the same season “Luke” won 3rd Club, 3rd Fed and 31st Up North Combine Lillers (2) when beaten by a loftmate that won 1st Club, 1st Fed and 19th Up North Combine from a convoy of 11,706 birds. “Luke” was also the winner of 1st Club, 1st Fed, 2nd Up North Combine 10,299 birds and 8th North of England Homing Union “Queens Cup Clermont in 2011 from a convoy of 13,961 birds. The outstanding “Luke” was also the winner of a 1st Fed inland; then put to stock when paired to top Daughter of “Rachael”. So what about “Rachael”? She is the Dam or G/Dam of an incredible 4 x 2nd Up North Combines, 2 x 2nd NEHU Opens and 3 times Up North Combine Bird of the Years, plus many more top Pigeons.
