Brotton H/S & Brotton 6 Bird Club Payout Night

For the second year running Brotton Homing Society and the Brotton 6 Bird Club jointly held their 2013 prize presentation evening at The Spar Hotel, Saltburn. Terry Callan the Brotton H/S secretary took centre stage to welcome everyone to the Club's big night and then followed up by giving a run down on what was happening for the evening, which included the hot cooked meal and the presentation of both Brotton H/S silverware which I presented and the Brotton 6 Bird Club silverware which was presented by Bill Dowey the East Cleveland Federation secretary. There was also the Brotton H/S breeder/buyer and the quiz which were both done by Terry, followed by the raffle and music from the Scooby Doo mobile disco & karaoke. With the best singer award being won by Sacker “Bill” Cole who did it his way. Once again Terry’s good lady Cath put in a full shift which included a few tit-bits after the meal, I would like to thank the members of Brotton H/S for once again inviting us along which included gifts for Carole, Hayden & Tyler.

Top prize winner in Brotton H/S for the 2013 racing season was the 2012 Champion, Mick Smithies who enjoyed an outstanding old bird inland season where he achieved a number of fantastic loft performances which resulted in racking up the lion’s share of points. Mick recorded his first win of the season a week later when the birds were at Peterborough (1), after timing no less than eight birds to win a top notch 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th Club, 3rd, 9th, 16th, 20th, 26th, 30th, 32nd and 39th Fed from a convoy of 2,732 birds.
