Andrezel and Melton Mowbray July08

EAST CLEVELAND FEDERATION

by Keith Simpson

Andrezel and Melton Mowbray (3)

The Up North Combine was at the new flown race point Andrezel on Saturday 5th July but due to the very poor weather in both France and England the birds were held-over. The weather continued to give us grief for the next few days but Tuesday 8th July saw the convoy of 4,687 birds been liberated at 6.25am in a South West wind. The winning birds achieved good velocities with some members enjoying a great race with good returns, while others had a number of birds missing with some of them having nothing back on the day and up to days after.

Graham Wattis & Son got back to their winning ways at Lingdale after timing a couple of 2y to win 1st and 2nd when there were 26 birds away. Topping the Club and East Cleveland Federation charts out of 297 birds was a blue Stanghow Stuka hen recording 1169 to go onto score 2nd Section, the good consistent hen has a 4th Club Clermont and 5th Club Folkestone to her credit. In cell two came a cheq Stanghow Stuka cock who is usually a bad trapper but this time he was too tired to fly around. Congratulations to Graham on his Fed win; I would normally give Linda credit but Graham says she does nowt at the loft. I wonder who was in charge at the loft while Watto was driving around East Cleveland to see if there was anything to beat him in the Fed. Bernard Watson & Ian Clayton are in 3rd after timing a 3y widowhood cock, while Leather Bros take 4th with a 2y Padfield Jan Aarden. George Skidmore & g/sons Mick & Liam Jackson lift 5th with a Ian Brown Camphius Janssen x John Adams that is the previous scorer of 67th and 112th UNC.
