The Brotton H/S loft of Reg Wilson & Ray Mole & Partners timed a couple of yearlings to win 1st and 2nd Club, 1st and 17th East Cleveland Federation from a 39 members entry of 670 birds with vels of 1668 and 1632. Frank & Brenda Reilly & son Wayne and loft helper Peter Marshall netted 3rd Club with a yearling.
Onto Skinningrove H/S where the loft of B & K Simpson recorded their third win of the season after timing a couple of birds to win 1st Club from a nine members entry of 245 birds, 2nd and 12th Federation with vels of 1662 and 1635. With brothers Brian & Keith's chart-topper being “Red Live Wire” a red yearling Dirk Van Den Bulck widowhood cock bred by Clubmates Sack & Jim Peirson for the Silksworth Comrades H/S breeder/buyer. As a young bird “Red Live Wire” won 1st Club, 1st Federation Oakham (2) from a convoy of 1,304 birds; the cock was on the clock and in the money out of the Maidstone National winning Brian & Keith £500 and Sack & Jim £500 in the Silksworth Comrades H/S breeder/buyer. Fourth on the clock was Sack, Jim, Trevor & Bobby's 2019 bred blue Heremans Ceusters x Dirk Van Den Bulck cock of D & G Wright of Northumberland Federation crossed with Stuart Watson bloodlines. Next stop is Boosbeck H/S where the loft of David “Ralph” Coates and his former Clubmate and now helper Craig Clapton returned to their winning ways to record their fifth win of the old bird season after timing a yearling Vandenheede x Albrecht roundabout cock to win 1st Club. Ian “Knocker” Brown timed a couple of his entries to chalk up 2nd and 3rd Club with the blue card going to a 2019 bred Peter Van Osch x Willem Debruin cock, while the green was potted by a yearling cock who is full brother to the blue card scorer.

It turned out to be a star-studded race for Ali “ Mac” McLeod of Billingham T U H/S when Mac won a top class 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 19th Teesside Federation, 1st, 10th, 92nd, 94th, 211th Up North Combine from a distance of 380 miles with vels of 1339, 1326, 1297.5, 1297.4, 1277, 1271, 1234, 1212; winning the “Alderman Waller Cup”, the “Jack Tinkler Memorial Trophy”, the “Vetrepharm Trophy”, a Up North Combine Gold Medal and the “Lowcocks Trophy” for the Best 2-Bird Performance with 391pts. The Gold Medal winning hen “Evelyn“ named after Ali's wife Linda's late mother, has netted 16th Federation Oakham (2) beaten by three loftmates and 12th Federation Folkestone (2) National when again beaten by three loftmates this season. Mr & Mrs Golly & Linda Peirson & Tubby Purver had a trio of birds on the clock to lift 2nd, 5th, 6th Club, 8th, 20th, 22nd Federation, 101st, 217th, 239th UNC on 1296, 1276.6, 1273; with the blue card scorer being a homebred 3y through Geordie Dave and Ray Horton lines who won 1st Club, 3rd Federation and 40th UNC Roye (1) in the Brotton 6 Bird Club. The son and father partnership of Darren & James Waters clocked a yearling (3y ring) doing 1286 to net 3rd Club, 12th Federation and 159th Combine; with Darren & James green card potter being bred from a Ian Stafford New Laureaat hen crossed with a cock through Geoff & Catherine Cooper lines. The new formed partnership of Terry Callan & Lorraine Hudson notch up 4th Club, 19th Federation and 216th UNC with a 3y on 1276.7.

Moving onto Marske & New Marske where the inform partnership of Paul Longstaff, Jeff Moore & Ronnie Mackay timed three of their entries to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd Club, leading the way was a 2y Anth Moore grizzle widowhood cock racking up a vel of 1251 to chalk up 38th Federation. The third and final race of the day was from the new race point Gien which replaces the longest race Bourges, with the birds hitting the skies at 7.35am flying into a West-South-West wind. Due to the Hetton Federation and the Shotton & Trimdon Federation awaiting their meeting of appeal I'm not going to be disrespectful to the members so I'm not adding the Combine positions to this Gien report until after the outcome of the hearing.
Moving straight onto Brotton H/S where the loft of Mr & Mrs Golly & Linda Peirson & Tubby Purver who have really made a big name for themselves from the channel the past few years winning more than their share of water races, Federation wins and UNC positions. The other two birds on the clock were through James late father and Darren late granddad Jim Waters old Vandie lines which are responsible for numerous Club and Federation winners from up to 540 miles, a family that has withstood the test of time for Jim, James & Darren over a great number of years. James used to race in partnership with his late father Jim; while Darren raced on his own from a small back garden loft at home flying from a different loft location from Jim & James. Both partnerships were always at the top or in the frame from the then longest race Bourges from a distance of 540 miles, with Jim & James Bourges performances being second to none. There wont be many, if any that can match their long distance performances in the East Cleveland Federation.
Reg Wilson, Ray Mole & Partners timed a 3y and a 4y doing 1051 and 808 to notch up 12th and 20th Federation; with their well-fancied first timer potting 9th North Of England Championship Club lifting £13.06.
Mr & Mrs I & E Purver of Skinningrove H/S timed their well-fancied 3y smokey blue Gaby Vandenabeele hen doing 1124 to lift 3rd Club out of a five members entry of 38 birds, 9th Federation and 5th North of England Championship Club pocketing £66.74. With Ian & Liz green card scorer being Liz's favourite who won 1st Club, 1st Federation, 1st Section 7, 8th UNC and 3rd NECC Reims in 2018, the sire is the “Jutla Cock” a grandson of “James Bond and “Bliksem” while the dam is the “Temple Park Hen” a daughter of of “Tobias” that Ian & Liz purchased at the North Of England Homing Union Show sale of Stuart Knowles. Mr & Mrs Jeff & Ann Murphy had five of their channel squad on the clock to claim 14th, 22nd, 27th, 31st, 32nd Federation on 890, 789, 574, 551, 521.
Dean “Deano” Ward wins 1st Club at Loftus H/S with Deano's pole position winning 4y achieving a top vel of 1140 which was enough to chalk up 7th Federation. Alan Tose & Daughter who enjoy the longest race with them winning Bourges a few times over the years filled three cells to lift 2nd, 3rd, 4th Club, 10th, 13th, 16th Federation on 1065, 1029, 878; while Chris Vasey notched up 5th Club, 17th Federation on 863.
Ian “Knocker” Brown racks up his second red card of the weekend at Boosbeck H/S after timing a couple of his entries to win 1st and 3rd Club from a three members entry of 12 birds. With top spot being won by a 3y cock doing 886 to go onto score 15th Federation; with the sire of Knocker's winning cock been bred by Barry Kinnear of Scotland Oude Rilke x granddaughter of Scammell & Peploe. The green card was netted by a 2017 homebred Huybrechts x Janssen hen on 518 for 33rd Federation. David “Ralph” Coates and helper Craig Clapton clocked their 4y Busschaert roundabout hen doing 742 to pocket 25th Federation; the blue card scoring hen was in the frame out of the 2019 Reims race where she took 3rd Club, 15th Federation, 248th UNC when beaten by two loftmates who won 1st and 2nd Club, 6th and 8th Federation, 109th and 141st Combine when there was 3,124 birds competing.
Onto the Brotton 6 bird Club where the loft of Frank & Brenda Reilly, son Wayne and the helping Peter Marshall timed a couple of their entries to win 1st and 2nd Club with top spot being won by a 5y chequer Verstraete hen achieving 769 to go onto score 23rd Federation. With the red card winning hen being the previous winner of 1st Club, 10th Federation and 183rd UNC Reims in 2019 when there was 3,124 birds competing. The blue card was chalked up by a 2015 bred blue Mark Van Den Berg cross cock doing 569 for 28th Federation to round off a good day for Frank, Brenda, Wayne & Peter. The partnership of Andrew & Gavin Doe, Dillon Swales, the late Sandy Sanderson & Dean Tinkler lifts 3rd Club, 29th Federation with the lad's timer being a 6y grizzle Silver Shadow Van Loon cock purchased at the Loftus Championship Club breeder/buyer.
The late Les Wellburn & sons Les & Derek of Middlesbrough H/S always set their stall out for the longest race of the season with the lad's winning Bourges many times over the years, this race they timed three of their five entries to win a brilliant 1st, 3rd and 5th Club, 1st, 6th and 8th Teesside Federation out of an entry of 34 birds on 1186, 863 and 743. The winner was a 2018 bred blue hen and the green card potter was a 3y blue hen that took 4th Club, 7th Federation, 118th UNC Reims last season out of 3,124 birds. Les & Derek's third timer was a 6y chequer hen who scored 2nd Club, 4th Federation, 78th UNC Bourges in 2019 from a convoy of 1,275 birds. Mr & Mrs Dobbs timed two of their three entries to chalk up 2nd and 4th Club, 5th and 7th Federation on 1031 and 853; with both the blue and yellow card potters being 2y blue hens.
Next stop is Billingham T U H/S where two members sent five birds, the loft of Ali “Mac” McLeod recorded a hat-trick of wins on the day to win 1st Club, 2nd Federation on 1178. With Mac's well-fancied red card winning 2y blue hen that was bred by Hawkins & Evans winning the Federation Nomination and the Federation pools pocketing £60 which Linda will help to spend on a day out at Kirby Stephens. The loft of Huggett Brothers timed one of their two entries, a 2017 bred blue cock doing 711 to chalk up 2nd Club and 9th Federation.
Onto Haverton Hill where Jappa Appleton & Paul Longstaff along with helper Alby Woodward timed one of their four entries, a 4y chequer cock racking up a top vel of 1172 to win 1st Club, 1st Nomination pocketing £12 and 3rd Federation. With the lad's red card winner being out of the “Walton Cock” while the dam of the chequer cock is bred out of Jappa & Paul's old Janssen stock. The loft of Paul Gatley, Graham Harrod & son Dale clocked a 2018 bred chequer hen doing 1115 to lift 2nd Club and 4th Federation.
