C. Leadbeater & Sons of Hill Ridware show ‘em the way home out of Honiton.
Saturday September 19th saw the young bird special race and the 2020 breeder buyer race take place from Honiton. 49 members sent 507 birds which were liberated at 11-40. A fresh N.E.wind blew making it a tough fly for the youngsters, and the western side lofts were certain to dominate? At the end of the day returns was fairly good?
It was certainly a day for the in-form lofts who had their youngsters on the darkness? It was thought the leading birds would hit the 40 mph mark, but that there wouldn’t be too many at that speed; this proved to be correct.
Congratulations to the Rugeley lofts of C.Leadbeater & Sons, they took the top four in Hill Ridware and in the Fed on 1166; 1164; 1152.5; 1152.4; all Belgian rung, the winner a direct Van De Brande followed by three direct from The Aerts Bros Lofts. All pooled through. The winner a blue cock, followed by a blue WF Hen and two blue hens, winning a total of £942.
BRIAN LEADBEATER FIRST FOUR HONITON
The in-form loft of D.Nesbitt & sons were 5th & 6th fed on 1150; 1145; with two Leo Hereman cocks; pooled to win £79.
C. Leadbeater & sons were back again in 7th spot on 1144 with a Cheq hen; pooled to win £22-50, add to this a further £3.00 in 13th spot, meaning they took home the magnificent sum of £967.50 pool money.
Two excellent birds to the Winshill loft of Jim Parker & son, Jim timed in two of his Curtis; Wall & Lunt Hereman hens on 1139.3; 1139.2; to take 8th & 9th fed, cracking performance this against that easterly wind.
10th fed on 1138 were the Lichfield lofts of Purchase & Walker; flying out of The Nelson.
The remaining pools of £22.50 was won by Rich & Gordie Jones & Batt, meaning Hill Ridware lofts took home the whole £1069 pools on offer. They love an east wind!!

At Stretton and Winshill, Jim Parker & Son took the top four with their Hereman hens on 1139(2); 1111; 1085.
At Etwall, 6 sent 65 and Alan Peach took the top three on 1002; 974; 970; the winner was bred off a pair of birds Alan purchased at the who dares wins auction. Runner up was a Roland Jansenne and third was one off Glyn Cooper out of a bird Alan purchased at a Hill Ridware b/b sale.
Kev Southall was 4th on 964 with a Hereman / Van den Bulk, the nestmate won Stretton from Tewksbury (2).
At the Nelson, 5 sent 105 and Purchase & Walker took the top four on 1138; 1122; 1117; 1097.
At Swadlincote Town, 5 sent 57 and Mr & Mrs Trevor Collins & son took the top three on 1095; 1065; 1063; the winner a Herman Ceuster followed by two Rauw Sablons bred by Chris Parker.
Davis, Wright & sons were 4th on 1059 with a dark Cheq hen, her sire was bred by Debbie Fearn off the “Broken Wing” and “Honeysuckle” lines; the dam is a daughter of “Ted” x Staf van Reet.
At Osmaston park, 12 sent 112 and Dave Waddington certainly finished the season with a bang, taking 1st; 2nd; and 4th on 1128; 1119; 1068; the first two were nestmate hens out of Alan Brassington stock, they were followed by a blue cock out of Alan Brassington x “The Bat” stock. That means Dave has won four on the bounce, you’ve still got it Dave!!
Mr & Mrs Paul Todd were 3rd on 1071 with a blue Lambrecht hen.
At Hill Ridware, 3 sent 46 and the first seven appear in the fed top ten report above.

72 youngsters were sold in the two breeder buyer sales, one which was carried out by phone bids due to the covid 19 restrictions.
14 members sent 28 birds to Honiton and these were liberated at 11:10 in a N.E. wind.
Congratulations to D.Nesbitt & sons of Hill Ridware on taking the first prize with one of their own Leo Hereman hens on 1127. Mark will scoop £832-32 plus the two gold coins. This means Mark has won the P & D Stud; Tividale and fed breeder buyers this year, remarkable?

Runners up winning £624.24 were Brian & Sue Stone of Holbrook on 1106, again with one of their own.

Mick & Neil Harvey of Swadlincote town were 3rd on 1068, winning £416-16; once again, one of their own.
Mr & Mrs Graham Evans of Castle Gresley were 4th on 1064 winning £208-08, again with one of their own. Total paid out was £2080-80, plus the two gold coins worth over £200.
