ANNALONG LOFTS TAKE TOP 2 FROM FERMOY
Saturday August 27th saw the East Down Combine Birds in Fermoy competing in the 7th Young Bird race of the season and the last of the Combine’s club programme for 2022, with the first of the three Derby races which brings the season to a close, being flown from Talbenny also on August 27th and which will feature in it’s own report shortly but both the Talbenny and Fermoy birds were released at 8.30am into a light Northerly wind.
The top four places this time went to members of the East section with The Rooney family of Annalong just ahead of fellow club members John Trimble and his Grandson Zac.
It was then over to Portavogie for 3rd open and 3rd East section to Walker & Niall Cully with M Adair & sons of Nearby Cloughey in 4th open and East section.
We then move over to the West Section for the next four birds in the Open with Belmont’s R & J Conlane having two together for 5th & 6th open 1st & 2nd West section and this partnership have enjoyed a great season.
Fellow club members D & L Jackson & Dtrs are 7th Open 3rd West Section with Albert Lockhart (Mackey & Lockhart) Ballylesson next at 8th open and he follows this up with two together for 10th and 11th open with the Rooneys in at 9th open.

Laurette Robinson
Once Again this week it with sadness that I report a further death from within the Combine family with the passing of Laurette Robinson who raced in partnership with her husband Wesley as W & L Robinson in the Comber Social club. I extend sincere condolences to Wesley, Tracey & Louise and the wider family circle at this time of great loss.
