East Down Combine News
Dundonald Partnership clear leaders from Fermoy
Fermoy was the race point for the Combine’s 6th Young Bird race and this turned out to be erratic for many when the 2,700 birds were released at 10.30 am into a SE wind . Looking down the results the erratic nature if the race can be seen from the velocities which in the Open ranged from 1769 ypm for the winner down to 1467 for the last open position and club results also reflected this trend .The open winners were to the Dundonald partnership of Myles, Kincaid , McCann & Auld well clear on 1769 of the runners up also in Dundonald to Cowan & McCartney . Over to Bangor then for the next two to Reggie & David Moore who have had another successful season and then it was back to Dundonald to complete the first six in the open with 5th to Jim Young & ptnrs and 6th to Mark Foulis who has just had further success with 4th north Section in the INFC Skibbereen National .

Tullamore Comeback Success for Patterson & Shaw
The second Comeback race for the young birds was again mid week and again from Tullamore and with a fresh Southerly wind again fast velocities were recorded . The birds were liberated at 7.30am to beat the weather forecast for later in the day and many used this a s an opportunity to get later young birds into a group liberation . The top six birds home were 3 each to Ballylesson’s John Patterson who had the first three and Bangor’s David Shaw who then had the next three places giving the West section the top three and the East section the next three with the open, section and Nominated birds being ;
