Lambert &Stewart 1st Open Tullamore 2

The 4th Young Bird race for the EDC 2018 season was again from Tullamore scheduled to be flown on Saturday August 11th but up until mid morning of the 10th it had not been decided whether to go ahead with a Friday basketing for a Saturday race the reason being the very changeable weather forecast for the Saturday /Sunday of that weekend as there was rain coming into Ireland but it was the timing of this which was vital and as the Friday progressed the forecast for Saturday until mid afternoon became much more favourable so it was decided to hamper on the Friday evening as usual and all credit to the weather committee for with a light SE wind on Saturday morning the 3,456 birds were released at 9am and the Open & East section winner this week on 1551ypm clocking in at 11.24 for the 127 mile trip was Bangor?s Cliff Stewart (Lambert & Stewart) With the open positions all recording velocities in the 1500?s birds were home before the weather closed down later in the afternoon .

Roy Irwin (Dundonald) was 2nd open and leads the West section closely followed by Ballylesson?s Paul Johnston (P & C Johnston),then its over to Portavogie to Jim and Ronnie Young for the next 3 arriving together and what an outstanding season this loft is having ,just on their heels are Harper & Young again with 3 together and it?s back up to Dundonald to Roy Irwin to complete the top ten in the open .
