The Joe Ringland Skibbereen Classic was flown on Saturday May19th and with a Southerly wind the leading birds made light work of the trip with the winner being well clear of the next bird . The convoy was released at 8.45am and the winner recorded a speed of just short of 70mph well clear of the next bird .The top 12 in the open were ;

The winners were the Ballylesson lofts of Colin & Dorothy Smyth and sons who timed a blue Busschaert hen on Roundabout and which has been christened ?JO-JO 04? the Jo Jo part of the name being for Joe Ringland who the Skibbereen classic is held in memory of , Joe having been a former long serving Secretary to the East Down Combine .The next four birds were on up the line into Dundonald with Jim Young having the first of these and then three to Mark Foulis . The next bird was out on the East Coast to Winston & Hugh McMaster of the Ballywalter club . The top birds in the various clubs were ;

The full result of the Mallow Derek Wishart classic is now complete and as reported last week the winner was John Patterson who had his second bird at 5th . As this event was held in conjunction with the EDC Mallow club event it was a case of just doubling up some of these birds and entering them in the classic . The runners up next to John were the Rooney family who are enjoying another great season and were 2nd 3rd , Gordon bros & sons also enjoying a great season have 4 together for 6th to 9th . Roy Irwin was 4th and Reggie & David Moore were 10th and 11th with Cowan & McCartney 12th
