Roy Irwin 1st Open EDC Tullamore
Saturday the 21st of April saw the East Down Combine in Tullamore for the second race of the season and what a beautiful day it was for watching for birds with warm sunshine and a light Southerly wind which again meant that a fast race was on the cards . The 4,000 plus birds were away at 9.30am and it was expected that once again the West side clubs would have the leaders and this was indeed the case with Dundonald?s Roy Irwin topping the Combine and the West section on 1700ypm As was the case last week from Mullingar Dundonald and Ballylesson clubs had the early birds with Colin and Dorothy Smyth having 2nd ,3rd and 6th open . Mark Foulis had another good race and these early ones were all in the West Section .
The Bangor Club had the distinction of taking all the top places in the East Section shared between R Moore & son with 1st and then 5th to 14th 16th 19th and 20th , Burgess &Brennan 2nd ,3rd 4th 15th & 17th and T & S Phillips 18th . With the season now well and truly underway this week the Combine move on to Thurles . Full result of the Tullamore race is :
