Update
First of all I would like to apologise to the members of the Club with how long it has taken to writing this update, due to personal issues at the present time which have stopped me from racing this season the way that I wanted to.
Now let’s get on and tell you all with all of the latest news down at The Cabbage Patch.
The first UBI Combine race arrived which was from Exeter and the members all fly between 160-170 miles, For this race 13 Members sent 209 Birds which were liberated at 6.15 with 2500+ Birds in the Fed and over 3000 in the UBI Combine.
Taking 1st Club, 27th Inter Counties Fed and 30th UBI Combine is Geoff Barker with a Blue Pied Lambrecht Cock, a previous winner of 50th UBI Combine Exeter 2686 birds, 1st Club, 27th Inter Counties Fed, 30th UBI Combine Exeter. In the Runners up spot we have Algis Tiatauris with a Blue Chequer Vanderbeele Cock. In Third place is Steve Holloway with a Chequer Pied Lambrecht Cock. 4th and 5th Club once again is Geoff Barker, firstly with a Blue Pied Lambrecht x Soontjen Cock, a previous winner of 13th Inter Counties Fed, 1st Club 13th Inter Counties Fed 17th UBI Combine Carentan 3rd Club Exeter, 2nd Club, 17th Inter Counties Fed, 18th UBI Combine as well as 26th Inter Counties Fed Honiton with birdages up to 3300 birds. And a Chequer Pied Jan Loots x Braspenning Cock who’s previously scored 47th UBI Combine Honiton. Finally in 6th place is Steve Holloway with a Louella Mealy Van Reet.
Our First overseas UBI Combine race was the week after from Falaise and at the end of marking 15 Members had sent 136 Birds which were liberated at 11am in a North East Wind, the birdage was down quite a bit as some members had sent with the BICC. The Top position this week was Paul Stone also taking 46th UBI Combine with a Blue Chequer Jan Loots which originated via Dave Murphy x Braspenning Cock who’s named Kimmy. Second Club was Jim Courtney with one of his Busschaert family which always seem to do well across the Channel. 3rd Club is John Figueira with a Blue Chequer Janssen. 4th Club once again is Paul Stone with a Blue Cock Braspenning x Jan Loots with the Jan Loots blood coming Via Dave Murphy and Bob Hutton. Fifth spot is Geoff Barker with a Grizzle Lambrecht x Janssen Cock a previous winner of 42nd UBI Combine Falaise, 1st Club, 8th Inter Counties Fed, 31st UBI Combine Le-Mans and 14th Inter Counties Fed Blandford . Finally in 6rh place is Steve Holloway with a Red Chequer from his Van Reet family which originated at Louella Pigeon World.
Our next race was a comeback race from Exeter with the UBI Combine, and 10 Members sent 120 Birds which were Liberated at 8am. Geoff Barker wins the week with a Blue Pied Lambrecht Cock who also takes 5th Inter Counties Fed, and 5th UBI Combine, a previous winner 50th UBI Combine Exeter, 1st Club, 27th Inter Counties Fed and 30th UBI Combine Exeter. Taking 2nd Club also 14th Inter Counties Fed, 18th UBI Combine is Paul Stone with a Blue Chequer Cock Bred by Kevin Goodman of Dalbeattie Scotland. Taking the next 3 spots is Steve Holloway who also takes 25th,32ndand 46th UBI Combine with a Blue Lambrecht Cock, a Blue Chequer Van Reet Cock and a Chequer Lambrecht Cock. And finally in 6th spot is Geoff Barker with a Lambrecht Grizzle Cock having previously taken 15th Inter Counties Fed.
Race 9 soon arrived and due to the weather the race was changed to Carentan, and these were liberated at 1pm with 8 members sending 69 birds to the Race. Peter Twyford takes Pole position this week with a Blue Hen from his Multi Winning Busschaert Family flown on Roundabout she is a previous winner of 1st Club Lyndhurst, 1st Club Honiton and 4th Club Lyndhurst, The sire is a multiple winner on the North Road with including wins from Berwick and Stonehaven. Second Club is Algis Tiatauris with a Blue Cock from his De Klak Janssen family which has seen him win 2nd UBI Combine, 3rd UBI Combine etc in the last 3 years. Peter once again appears in 3rd with a Red Chequer Busschaert Hen who was 6th Poitiers last year. 4th Club is Paul Stone with Kimmy a Blue Chequer Jan Loots who’s bloodlines contain the best of Dave Murphy ‘s Bloodlines crossed with a Braspenning . 5th Club is Jim Courtney with a Chequer Busschaert Cock, and finally in 6th place this week is John Figueira with a Blue Chequer Janssen Cock.
Race 10 on the 16th of June was another comeback race from Blandford and the first race for a while which wasn’t a UBI Combine race. At the end of marking 10 members had sent 165 birds which were Liberated at 7am. The winner this week is Club Secretary Steve Sheffield also 21st Inter Counties Fed with a Blue Pied Busschaert Cock. 2nd Club is Peter Twyford with a Blue Lambrecht Cock bred by Geoff Barker, who won 1st Club Honiton last year. Third and Fourth spot is Geoff Barker with Grizzle Lambrecht Cock, previous positions include 42nd UBI Combine Falaise, 1st Club, 8th Inter Counties Fed, 31st UBI Combine Le-Mans and 14th Inter Counties Fed Blandford, and a Blue Lambrecht Cock who has also taken 25th Inter Counties Fed with over 3200 birds. Taking 5th Club is Steve Holloway with a Blue Lambrecht Cock, and finally in 6th spot is Geoff Barker with another Grizzle Yearling Lambrecht Cock.

Race 11 on the 23rd June was another UBI Combine Race which was flown from Poitiers, and at the end of Marking, 7 Members had sent 40 Birds. Taking the top 2 spots is Paul Stone also taking 16th Inter Counties Fed, 21st UBI Combine with a Chequer Pied Busschaert x Van Den Bosche Cock and Kimmy who also takes 26th Inter Counties Fed and 29th UBI Combine, a Chequer Jan Loots x Braspenning Cock who has scored in every channel race this season. Third Club was Geoff with a Mealy Cock. 4th Club goes to Algis Tiatauris with a Blue De Klak Hen. 5th Club is Jim Courtney with a Blue Chequer Cock from his Combine winning family of Busschaerts. Taking the 6th place is John Figueira with a Blue Chequer Hen of Janssen bloodlines.
Race 12 Flown on the same day as Poitiers, was a extra race put on by the Fed due to some of the earlier races in the season due to the extreme weather. This race was flown from Honiton, where 11 members sent 189 Birds which were liberated at 6am in a Light North East Wind.
Taking the winners spot this week was Steve Holloway with a Blue Chequer Van Reet, with Second and third going to Geoff Barker with a Grizzle Janssen x Lambrecht Cock, previously a winner of 13th Inter Counties Fed , 1st Club 13th Inter Counties Fed 17th UBI Combine Carentan 3rd Club Exeter, 2nd Club, 17th Inter Counties Fed, 18th UBI Combine as well as 26th Inter Counties Fed Honiton and a Blue Pied Soontjen x Lambrecht past winner of 13th Inter Counties Fed 2816, 1st Club 13th Inter Counties Fed 17th UBI Combine Carentan 3rd Club Exeter, 2nd Club, 17th Inter Counties Fed, 18th UBI Combine as well as 26th Inter Counties Fed Honiton. 4th and 5th Club is Steve Holloway with a Mealy Van Reet Cock from Louella and Blue Janssen Cock bred by Club mate Billy Watkins. Finally in 6th is Steve Sheffield with a Blue Pied Busschaert Cock

Race 13 was flown from Yeovil and 8 Members sent 102 Birds which were Liberated at 6.15.
Taking the top 3 places we have Steve Holloway with a Blue Pied Lambrecht Cock, and a Blue Lambrecht Cock, both bred by Club mate Geoff Barker, Steve’s third pigeon is a home bred Blue Lambrecht Cock. In Fourth and Fifth we have Paul Stone with a Blue Cock, a previous winner of 2nd Club, 8th Inter Counties Fed, 10th UBI Combine Carentan and who is bred from a Grandson of The President of Joop Koch when paired to a Tist Eyssen Hen, and a Chequer Cock who’s bred from a Dave Housden Soontjen and a Jan Loots x Soontjen which was bred by Ian and David Holt of Cheshum . Sixth place is Jim Courtney with a Blue Busschaert Cock.
That is just about us all done now for the Old Bird Season, I was going to write about the Members who have been sending in the National races. I have now decided against that, instead I will do a small write up on each of those members so that the readers can learn a bit more about them.
