2014 TROPHY WINNERS

Champion Loft 2014 - Gareth Rankin of Larkhall & Dist.

Well with one of the most difficult of seasons of all time behind us it’s time to celebrate those fanciers who managed to get their birds to the front and win the spoils.

Pigeon racing is such a difficult game at the best of times, balancing your lifestyle with our feathered friends. It takes some commitment, skill and good birds to win the average prizes. Competing from every race in the Lanarkshire, racing 20 races, a race programme 80 to around the 500 miles mark, every week conditioning your birds and coming out at the end to win the average trophies takes a dedicated person, every bit a champion. These individuals eat and breathe pigeon racing; everything is geared around conditioning their teams and making the right decisions week in week out. These guys just don't turn up for a couple of weeks a year they are always at the top of their game.

This year Gareth Rankin of Larkhall & Dist has shown all the qualities needed to be a "Winner". He really is a top fancier held in high regard by his fellow fanciers. He has the experience and pedigree to get to the front at club, federation and National level. The big man is dedicated to the Lanarkshire Federation, supporting the fed at all levels.

Well done Gareth, enjoy your night at the presentation and remember to book a mini bus to take all those trophies home. You are the well deserved Champion Loft of the Lanarkshire Federation. We’re looking forward to seeing you doing your Strictly Come Dancing moves again this year big man.

Well done to all trophy winners. Come along and feel the pride of winning and receiving your trophies.

Gareth Rankin (L), principal prize winner of Lanarkshire Federation 2014.
