Hello folks,
North Liverpool Federation’s twelfth race of 2014 took place once more from Fougeres in conjunction with the North West Combine channel programme. After a one day holdover the convoy were liberated in a light north west wind at 8.45am on Sunday 29th June. A difficult race unfolded and only a handful of game pigeons were able to make it to their home loft by nightfall, although the following morning saw a greater number of equally gutsy performers wearily touching base.
Brian & Terry Snagg’s make it 4 wins from 4 channel races flown as they take 1st and 2nd positions at the Edge Hill. Third timer is from the No 4 son of Norman Bridgewater‘s 18x1st cock when paired to a hen bred by Jimmy Bauress and John Murray from a son of Golden Gaby and a Van Dyke hen. Fourth timer comes from the No1 son of the same Norman Bridgewater cock, responsible for many winners including 1st NL Fed when paired to the No2 hen, a daughter of Jones & Thomas’ double NW Combine winner the Policeman. Great flying again Roy. Thanks Darren.

The winner is a Jan Huijbrecht cock whose sire won 2nd club, 8th NL Fed and 3rd club Niort beaten by loft mates and he is down through the Junior lines of Jimmy & Paul Weeder, the Mossman hen who bred a lot of good pigeons for John and Fran and the Oak Villa cock when paired to a direct daughter of the Legend of Jan Huijbrechts. No Riverside result this week but a look at the fed sheet confirms Mr & Mrs O’Brien & Son take 1st position with a 2nd day arrival followed by RSMF Lofts in 2nd position.
No result this week from the Bootle either, but looking at the fed sheet we see Mr & Mrs Lee take 1st position with a 2nd day arrival.
The federation top ten is as follows:
1st John & Fran McDowell - 1019, 2nd George Farley - 1009, 3rd / 4th John & Fran McDowell - 993 / 991, 5th, Brian & Terry Snagg - 979, 6th Lee Morris - 966, 7th Kelly Brothers, Sons & Devine - 960, 8th Roy Reid - 945, 9th John & Fran McDowell - 944, 10th Brian & Terry Snagg - 943.
Congratulations to all of our prize-winners this week, none more-so than our federation and combine topping loft of John & Fran McDowell. The results they have posted over the last month in particular are top drawer and will hopefully spur John & Franny on to even greater success as the channel season winds to its conclusion.
To highlight John and Franny‘s overall result for this race, their pigeons achieved 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th club, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 9th North Liverpool Federation, 1st, 5th, 6th, 13th North West Combine. That is heavyweight channel flying in the best company.
To everybody who sent last week and the weeks previous, I hope your returnees are recovering well and those pigeons you were waiting on turn up soon if they haven’t already.
A final bit of information before we close, the first 6 individual lofts in the federation result from Niort will be awarded a free droppings and respiratory testing kit kindly supplied by Stokes Pigeon Care which will no doubt come in handy in the weeks or months ahead.
