The South West of England Lerwick Club

The South West of England Lerwick club held its seventh young bird race of the season from Ripon Race Course in North Yorkshire on the 13/9/20 at 09.30am into a strong south west head and side wind into a full blue skied sunny morning the birds were released.

The top twenty now... Taking the passion and the glory on topping the Lerwick club plus also 1st Thornbury NRFC was Dave Smith flying 181 miles with a blue soojen hen flying back to the perch with a velocity of 1051.

2nd, 9th, 14th & 15th open & 1st Sodbury Vale SRFC was P Hatherell flying 184 miles doing 1046.067, 1012, then two birds together doing 956.

3rd & 16th open & 1st Brislington NRFC was Alan Meacham flying 191 miles with two Dirk Van Den Bulks his first a chequer hen were her sire is a full brother to a 4 x 1st open Lerwick club winner her Dam is a granddaughter of Brother Horde Roede and Blauwe Leo Alan’s velocities were 1046 & 954.

4th, 7th, 8th & 11th open was A & R Smith flying 184 miles his first two birds were of two Dave Smith bred Soojens the other two of their own bred Frank Tasker line bred birds flying back to the perch with velocities of 1045, 2x 1038 & 1000.

Taking 5th, 6th, 10th & 13th open was Chris & John Adams flying 185 miles their first bird a Dark Coreman X Wall Lunt & Green hen followed by a red chequer cock which again is a Coreman X Wall Lunt & Green and again their third bird a red cock of a Coreman X wall Lunt & Green breeding and their forth a Own created strain X a Road Hogg lofts bird of a Chequer White flight cock with velocities of 1045, 1042, 1007 & 957.

12th & 19th open & 1st Oldland NRFC was Steve Robbins flying 188 miles his first bird a Grizzle Silver Shadow Van Loon cock with velocities of 980 & 940.

17th open was Mr & Mrs Graham Watkins flying 188 miles their bird a Kees Basua from Paul Fisher X a Brian Milkins bird blue hen doing 950.

18th & 20th open was Szmaglik & Humphries flying 184 miles with their first bird being a dark white flight Desmet Mathers X a Steve Bennett of Bristol hen and their second bird a red hen which is of a Jan Arden X with a French rung stock bird with velocities of 945 & 925.
