The South West of England Lerwick Club held its second old bird race of the season from Coventry in the Midlands on the Friday the 7th of May, due to a poor weekend weather forecast Pete the Convoyer got the birds on their way at 09:15 am the top twenty positions now taking 1st, 3rd & 4th open was the successful south road flying partnership of Luff & Walker Bros of Nailsworth FC.  This partnership fly their birds north and south with the same ones and have achieved some great success they flew 65 miles with velocities of 1432.297, & 2 x 1432. Their winner is a Cramer & Nigel Langstaff 2y chequer widowhood cock his parents were purchased from their entire clearance sale.  Their second bird a 4y blue chequer widowhood hen that has achieved numerous firsts for the partnership of the south road route she is a Gabby Vandenbeale X Sapin and their third scoring bird is a 1y blue chequer widowhood hen which is a Geoff & Catherine Cooper X Mark Gilbert breeding bird.

2nd & 5th open flying 87 miles was Jim Monks of Bristol South NRFC with a 1y Bushart X Manderlartz Hen turned from the south route to the north route doing 1432.016 & 1429.

6th, 7th, 8th & 16th open was Alan Meacham of Brislington NRFC with 4x Dirk Van Den Bulck widowhood cocks doing 3 x 1408 & 1401.

9th, 10th, 11th & 12th open was A & R Smith with their team of natural flown birds all being Frank Tasker line bred and their second bird a Dave Smith Bred Soojen velocities of 3 x 1408 & 1407.

13th open was Brimble & Caldwell with a gift bird from Paddy Russell roundabout flown 3y chequer hen doing 1406.

14th open was Steve Moseley with a 2y Wildesmersch hen doing 1403.

15th & 20th open was Peter Harkness his first a Jos Soojen X Leen Bores 1y blue pied hen doing 1403 his second a 3y Jan Arden X Jan Theelen Red cock doing 1395.

17th & 19th open was Dave Smith his first a 3y dark pied Paul Stobbs Soojen hen on 1401 his second a 3y dark pied Staff Van Reet X Gabby Vandenbeale cock bred by Gregg Johnson doing 1398.

18th open was David Bullingham with a 1y blue cock doing 1400.
