EASTBOURNE - MAY 2012

Saturday the 12th of May and the birds where liberated at Eastbourne in another head wind which was Northerly turning North West. Topping the Combine and the South Section is Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse of Bridlington on 1292. Topping the North Section is Jess & Jen Hotham of Filey on 1291. Topping the West Section is Derek Vickers & Trevor Palmer of Norton on 1282. Topping the Central Section is John & Margaret Rawson of Hull on 1275.  Well done everyone.

Kerry Mellonby - Combine winner

Coastal South Section:

Bridlington D.F.C. 17 members sent  birds 244 with the red card going to Kerry Mellonby and Ricky Wheelhouse on 1292 with a Premier Stud Hereman Ceuster which has scored the last 3 weeks. Second place went to Jess & Jen Hotham on 1291 with a S & S Trattles Marina V D Velde x Koopman multi prize winner which topped the combine as a y.b last year. Third place went to Nathan Hoggard on 1281 with a Frank Sheader Soontjen x his top stock hen. Fourth place went to John and Linda Chadwick on 1280 with a Hereman Ceuster hen.

Bridlington D.R.P.C. 6 members sent 235 birds with the red card going to Mark Slater on 1284 with a Janssen. Second place went to Steve Sellars on 1281 with a Janssen which has scored before. Third place went to Steve Sellars on 1275 with a Janssen which topped the Combine from Clermont. Fourth place went again to Steve Sellars on 1273 with a Vandenabeele which has also scored before.  

Flamborough Homing Society. 5 members sent 35 birds with the red card going to Mick Holdsworth on 1174 with a Soontjen hen. Second place went to Mike Farnell on 1173 with a Kirkpatrick cock, mike also wins the nom. Third place went to Mick Holdworth on 1169 with a Soontjen. Fourth place went to John Kemp on 1149 with a cock from his own stock.

Hornsea & D. H. Society. 7 members sent 99 birds with the red card and Second place going to Phil & June Edmonds on 1263 and 1231 with a pair of Vandenabeeles. Third place went to Phil & June again on 1230 with a Marina V. D. Velde. Fourth place went Barry Blenkinsop on 1221 no details given.

Hedon Flying Club. 7 members sent 198 birds with the red card going to Paul & Helen Johnson on 1280 with a Stuart Ward Peter Vander Merwe which has had 3 x 1st and 2 combine wins last year and won the Humberside trophy. Second place went to W. Carr & Son on 1253 with a Soontjen. Third place went to Martin Weaver on 1252 with a Vandenabeele yearling taking its first card. Fourth place went to W. Carr & Son on 1249 with a Soontjen.

Patrington Haven Leisure Club. 3 members sent 94 birds with the red card going to Bennett & Sparkes on 1274. Second place went to Graham Sparkes on 1264. Third place went to Graham Sparkes on 1264. Fourth place went to Derek Nicholls on 1263 all their birds were Premier stud birds Withernsea Homing Society. 7 members sent 126 birds with the red card going to Alec & Margaret Dodson on 1211 with a yearling gift bird from Premier Stud which had a 1st Billericay last year. Second place went to Bob Keelty & Son on 1198 with a Janssen. Third place went to Dean Adamson on 1198 with a Vandenabeele. Fourth place went to Gordon Cooper on 1187 with a Bill Walton gift bird.

Coastal North Section:

Filey Homing Society. 6 members sent 107 birds with the red card going to Jess & Jen Hotham on 1276 with a Marina Van D Velde cock which has won other positions. Second place went to Colin Smith on 1261 with a Bryan Maude De Weerd which won the first race. Third place went to Jess & Jen Hotham on 1261 with a Ian Stafford Jos Thorne which has had many positions from a young bird. Fourth place went to Colin Smith on 1258 with a Kerry Mellonby Vandenabeele which won the section last week.

Hunmanby Homing Society. 6 members sent 137 birds with the red card going to J & A Barmby on 1262 with a Marcelis x Soontjen. Second Third and Fourth places went to Tony Robson on 1251, 1244 and 1237 all with his Marina Van D Velde pigeons. 

Loftus W.R.I.Club. 4 members sent 52 birds with the red card going to Sayers Bros on 1237 with a 3yr old Smit V Winkle hen which has had a 3rd Sleaford and a 4th Huntingdon and was 16th Combine Arras last year. Second place went to Sayers Bros on 1224 with a 3yr old Smit V. Winkle which was 7th and 9th Huntingdon this year and 11th Combine Arras last year. Third place went to Sayers Bros on 1224 with a 3yr old Dave Newbould hen. Fourth place went to Sayers Bros on 1198 with a 4yr old Smit V Winkle cock which was 2nd Sleaford and 10th Huntingdon.

Scarborough Social Club. 12 members sent 201 birds with the red card for the 4th week going to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1284 with a P & P Quirejnen which has 6 x 1sts a 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th to its name. Second place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1266 with a Koopman x Vandenabeele which had 3 x 1st 2 x 5th 4 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd Third place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1266 with a Arien Vereckt x Hereman Ceuster which has had 2 x 1st 2 x 2nd 2 x 5th and a 3rd. Fourth place went to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1266 with a Arien Vereckt which has had a 4th Huntingdon.

Whitby Premier Club. 10 members sent 208 birds with the red card going to Alan Richardson on 1271 with a yearling Louis Thijs Ceuster widowhood cock. Second place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1266 with a 4yr old well fancied F. Sheader Karel Boeckx x Jozef Goovaerts widowhood cock that had a 1st Huntingdon and topped the section last week. It has a 1st Combine Arras, 2 x 1st & 2 x 2nd & 3rd Billericay, 2 x 2nd Huntingdon to its name. Third place went to S. Mallinson & Son on 1261 with a yearling Luke Miller Jos Thone x Ian Stafford Koopman widowhood cock bred. Fourth place went to Storr Bros & Son on 1261 with a 2yr old Ken Monks roundabout Hermans hen. They also won the pools.

Central Section:

Cottingham Homing Society. 11 members sent 142 birds with the red card and Second and Third places going to the Turbo charged Ceusters x Radar family of John and Margaret Rawson on 1275, 1270 and 1245 their first is a 3yr old that has topped the section twice from Arras. Fourth place went to Kev and Julie Kingston revving their engines ready for the Nationals.

North Hull Club.8 members sent 57 birds with the red card going to Barry Kipling on 1266 with a Gary Cox Braspenning which has had 2 x 1st over the channel. Second place went to M. Shutt on 1182 with a Les Pollard Soontjen. Third place went to Barry Kipling on 1176 with a Braspenning x R. Crawford Wildemeersch. Fourth place went to R & S Smith on 1176 with an own bred Busschaert.

Hull Chalk Lane Club. 13 members sent 195 birds with the red card going to George Rudd on 1247 with a Leo Van Rijn hen. Second and Third places went to Williams Brothers on 1246 and 1227 with a pair of Janssen cocks. Fourth place went to B. Farrow on 1204 with a Vandenabeele.

Hull Millennium Club. 10 members sent 148 birds with the red card and Second and Third places going to K & H Green on 1221, 1217 and 1214 with his original Ark breed of pigeons flying on the natural. Fourth place went to John and Pat Hall on 1207 no details.

Driffield Homing Society. 15 members sent 177 birds with the red card going to Paul Woodmansey on 1272 with a 4yr old Bob Mallinson Barberian cock. Second place went to Lance Sedman on 1271 with a Lefebre Dhaenen. Third place went to Sam Jackson on 1266 with a Clive Lister Gus Janssen x Ceuster. Fourth place went to Paul Woodmansey on 1265 with a 2yr old Vandenabeele off the late Sid Day stock. P. Woodmansey and S. Jackson win the pools and Lance Sedman wins the old bird K.O.

Little Weighton Club. 7 members sent 75 birds with the red card going to Dennis Jackson and Arthur Fletcher on 1242 with a yearling widowhood cock bred from a M & D Evans hen x one of their old family, they also win the beer nom. Second Third and Fourth places went to Les Pollard on 1241, 1173 and 1173 all with his home bred Soontjen x Janssen based family that have stood him in good stead for many years, his fourth place bird carded last week.

East Hull Flying Club. 7 members sent 83 birds with the red card going to M &K Marshall on 1236 with a Karel Boeckx widowhood cock which has already had cards this year. Second place went to D. Lloyd on 1230 with a Hereman Ceuster which won Sleaford. Third place went to D. Lloyd on 1226 with one of his German Hermans. Fourth place went again to A & K Marshall on 1222 with Karel Boeckx multi prize winning widowhood cock.  

West Section:  

Eastrington P. F. C. 10 members sent 159 birds with the red card going to J. M. Shipley on 1264 with a well fancied W. Hagston x C. Mizon x D. Sumner which has won many times before and wins the nom. It cannot be replaced as the hawk took its mother last year. Second and Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Brumby on 1234 and 1211 with a pair of Vandenabeeles. Third place went to veteran fancier Alan Holtby on 1219 with a M/M Brumby Vandenabeele.

Norton I. Flying Club.18 members sent 309 birds with the red card going to Vickers & Palmer on 1282 with a Leemputten cock which has had 3 x 1sts. Second place went to Vickers & Palmer on 1280 with a Bob Thorpe Leemputten which has had minor cards before. Third and Fourth places went to R. Mort on 1280 and 1263 with a pair of Leemputten cocks.

Pocklington H. Society. 11 members sent 191 birds with the red card and Second place going to G. W Acey on 1252 and 1239 with a pair of Hofken x Janssens. Third place went to T. Edwards on 1238 with a Janssen which wins the £1 nom. Fourth place went to G. Atkinson on 1234 no detals.
