YORKSHIRE MIDDLE ROUTE COMBINE

Saturday the 27th of July and it is the first young bird race of the season and 4,000 birds were liberated at 9am at Newark in a West North West wind, with the East Coast Lads having an excellent day most members reporting 90% returns on the day. Topping the Combine and the Coastal South Section with the first four is Paul Johnson of Hedon on 1675 with the Central Section being topped by Chris Salter on 1636. Topping the Coastal North Section is John Robson of Hunmanby on 1522.  Notification: Huntingdon on the 11-08-07 is cancelled due to the site not now being available and is replaced with Peterborough. 

Coastal South Section:

Hedon Flying Club. 8 members sent 237 birds with the red card going to Paul Johnson on 1675.9 with a Hughie Jackson x J. Hepple bird. Second place went to Paul Johnson again on 1675.6 with one bred off his Combine winner which is Andrews & Greenwood stock. Third place went to Paul Johnson again on 1674.9 with one out of his old Andrews & Greenwood stock. Fourth place went yet again to Paul Johnson on 1674.4 with a G. Frith x Geof Wilsons stock. Paul tells me he is on such a high he was off out for a few drinks on Tuesday night. I wonder if he had a hangover!!!! I must also add that Paul’s wife Helen does 99% of the work in the loft due to Paul’s work commitments.

Bridlington D.F.C. 11 members sent 177 birds with the red card going to Bolton & Williamson on 1612, 1603, 1603, and 1603 all the birds are Planet Van Loons and bred out of the ‘Premier Lofts Stud’ Brian also wins the 6 bird and N. Hoggard won the nom.

Bridlington D.R.P.C. 8 members sent 183 birds with the red card and second and fourth positions going to Ellis & Foreman on 1612, 1611 and 1610 all Tony’s birds were off Jackson & Andrews Hofkins stock. Third place went to Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse on 1610 with one of their new blood a Massarella  x Stuart Knowel of Widness Lindalauf.

Withernsea Homing Society. With the red card going to Trevor Robinson on 1360 with a Jan Aarden x Van de Wegan. Second place went to Alec & Margaret Dodson on 1334 with a Roland De Keyser x Herman which originate from Arthur Brigham stock. Third and Fourth places went to new member Steve Turley on 1316 and 1266 with a pair off Gordon Cooper stock.

Flamborough Homing Society. 5 members sent 72 birds with the red card going to 92 year old Bernard Traves on 1529 with a hen a gift bird a Janssen from Mr Raines of Kilham, Bernard still does all his own clocking in but obviously a lot slower than most but credit to him. Second place went to Farnell & Weightman on 1512 with a mealy cock. Third place went to R & J Kemp on 1478 with a hen a gift bird from John Dixon of Holbeach.  Fourth place went to Paul Lawson on 1401 with a hen.

 

Coastal North Section:

Filey Homing Society. 6 members sent 86 birds with the red card and second place going to New member Mr & Mrs Featherstone on 1498 and 1484 with a Pair from Parson of Penrith. Third place went to Hotham & Ruston on 1447 with a Marina Van de Velt. Fourth place went to another new member Phil Robson on 1444 with a Van den Sandhen x Janssen.

Scarborough Social Club. 14 members sent 422 birds with the red card going to John Allen & Dean Ingle on 1434 with a Staf Van Reet bred by Mr & Mrs Beswick. Second place went to John Allen & Dean Ingle again on 1432 with a Soontjen .Third place went to P. Thorpe on 1418 Busschaert x Lefebre Dhaenen. Fourth place went to Dave & Frank Thompson on 1409 they also won the 6 bird with a Pete Valk x Camphius Janssen

Hunmanby Homing Society. The red card and Second and Third places went to John Robson on 1522, 1512 and 1505 no details. Fourth place went to Hill Bros on 1485 no details. Averages for old birds was, M/M Beswick 1464 2nd Hill Bros 1420. Channel 1st T. Robson 1350 2nd Hill Bros 1348. Old Bird. 1st M/M Beswick 1390 2nd Hill Bros 1383. 

Loftus W.R.I.Club. First was Jan Bailes & Family with a Janssen bred from a Reg Wilson x Weatly Cole. Second place went to R. Halton & Son no details. Third place went to Jan Bailes & Family with a Reg Wilson x Jan Bailes Busschaert.

Whitby Premier Club. 9 members sent 226 birds with the red card going to James McCourt & Son Dale on 1335.8 with a darkness Mealy Janssen cock bred out of stock. Second place went to McCourt & Son again on 1335.1 with a darkness R. Winspear Soontjen x Janssen bred from stock loft. Third place went to Robert A Winspear on 1334.7 with a darkness Soontjen x B. K Simpson Karel Boeckx hen flying to the perch. Fourth place went to Robert A Winspear again on 1334.2 with a Soontjen cock flying to the perch and is bred out of the stock loft. M/M Lane and R. Mallinson win the pools.

 

Central Section:

Little Weighton Club. Sent 104 birds. Taking his 7th card of the season is Les Pollard on 1459 with his old family of well cultivated Wildemeersch x Soontjens. This cock was flying to the perch. Second place went to Graham Revell & SonChris on 1423 with a cock off their Busschaert distance family, their young birds have been trained in all weathers. Third place went to Ted Humblestone & Nephew Rob Gilliatt on 1415 with their new dutch imports this hen was racing to eggs. They have put more time in training than other years. Fourth place went to Kev Kingston & Family on 1415 with one of their new family of birds, Kevin is another crazy trainer having them in panniers at 6 weeks old and also trained in all weathers. Steve there are a few members in clubs that are in different sections.  

Cottingham D H. Society. Barry Edmonds took First Second & Third on 1425, 1411 and 1403 the first and third are bred from his own strain developed over many years. The second is bred from my Carrera Vandenabeele family. Fourth place went to Dennis Smith with a self bred Alterman x Kirkpatrick.

Cavalier Homing Society. 7 members sent 152 birds with the red card going to M. Taylor on 1532 with a gift bird off Jim Ebey of Scunthorpe. Second and Fourth places went to Mr & Mrs L. Barker on 1457 and 1449 with a pair of cocks. Third place went to Young Bros on 1454 with a hen.

North Hull Club. 8 members sent 98 birds Taking their first card of the season and a  red card going to Mr & Mrs Hadley & Son on 1516 with a gift bird off Mike Wood and a thanks to Sharon for all her training. Second place went to Mr. I always win the raffle Trevor Drayton on 1489 with a Vandenabeele bred by his brother in Goole. Third place went to T. Drayton again on 1485. Fourth place went to Micky Foster on 1429 with a Busschaert. That’s it from the clubs new scribe B. Hull Chalk Lane Club. 12 members sent 278 birds with the red card going to Dave Chaffer on 1548 with a Leo Van Rijn hen. Second place went to J. Fuller on 1547 with a Busschaert hen. Third place went to Mr & Mrs Colin Boast on 1519 with a self bred hen. Fourth place went to J. Fuller on 1493 with a Cattrysse x Janssen. New member Jason Knaggs won all the pools £40

Hull Millennium Club 13 members sent 256 birds. With the first four places going to the Vic & Jenny Moody & Rebecca Turner on 1587, 1572, 1550 and 1535, all four birds where cocks bred through their Janssen x J & S Dickens Van Reet family. The Millennium club would like to thank their Right Honourable Secretary Jacqueline for the splendid party she laid on in the Hull Golf Centre to celebrate her 50th Birthday the artiste for the evening was Drag Star Bobby Mandrel ably backed by Jacqueline’s uncle John Morgan who provided the Karaoke Disco both making the evening very special for Jacqueline and all her guests. Western Section

Acomb W.M.H.S. 17 members sent 423 birds with the red card going to Cashmore & Miller on 1323 with a Brian Metcalfe bird. Second place went to Cashmore & Miller on 1321 with a Van Hoecke x Romain Legiest. Third place went to Cashmore & Miller again on 1314 with a Van Reet x Janssen. Fourth place went yet again to Cashmore & Miller on 1311 with a Malfake x Ella Scaife.

Burton Lane Club. 7 sent 91 birds with the red card and Second place going to I. Scaife on 1253 and 1220 with a pair of J. Barker Van Loons. Third place went to P. Calpin on 1189 with a Marcellis.

Norton I. Flying Club. 10 members sent 234 birds with the red card going to B. Ford & Sons on 1381 with a Smith Van Winkle hen whose dam topped the Gateshead fed two weeks in a row. Second place went to new member Clive Dawson on 1339 no details. Third place went to Brian Greenley on 1322 with a Van Loon hen. Fourth place went to Mick Burdett on 1317 with a Bob Thorpe bred Louis Van Leemputten cock.

Eastrington Rose & Crown. 8 members sent 169 birds with the red card and the next three places going to George Atkinson on 1428, 1424, 1402 and 1400 his first bird is a Bostyn x Van Hove, Second bird is a Jan Aarden x Van Hove, Third is a Geoff Clare J. Theelan x Van Hove and the fourth bird is another Van Hove George also won the Hagstons Butchers meat prize. S. Ireland won the £1 pool.
