Saturday the 9th of September and the birds were liberated at Sleaford in an Easterly turning South East and doing over 60 miles an hour. John held on until a lot of birds had been liberated making sure we had a clear run through. As we had 4,000 birds on with a lot of people have their new starters in. The Combine had an excellent race with excellent returns.   

Coastal North Section:

Scarborough Premier Club. 8 members sent 155 birds with the red card going to Ken & Sue Skelton on 1771 with a Natural hen bred out of two direct Scheers-Lodewyckx of Beerzel having its first race. Second place went to Ian Hakings on 1720 with a Willy Thas x Flor Engles darkness hen bred by Howard Jackson of Pickering, this pigeon was always fancied but never in the clock, Cheers Jacko.Third place went to Keith Todd on 1719 with an Alien Van Loon hen. Fourth place went to Keith Todd again on 1714 with a Brasspenning hen having its first race. The Clubs result for the breeder Buyer race last week was as follows. Breeder C. Saltmer Buyer I. Hakings on 1236, the rest won both breeder and buyer K & S Skelton on 1208. Mr & Mrs Sellars on 1190, John Robson on 1079 and Hill Bros on 1000.

Hunmanby Homing Society. 11 members sent 208 birds with the red card going to Tony Robson on 1721 with a Frank Sheader Soontjen off club member Dick Coates. Second place went to Dave & Ann Beswick on 1701 with a Karel Boeckx cock from Tranquillity lofts stock a most consistent y/b having had 2x 2nd and 1 x 4th also winning the pools. Third place went to John & Les Hill on 1668 no details. Fourth place went to Peter Kettlewood on 1665 with a Van Reet hen of Rivers of Gold Tranquillity lofts x Van Reet hen off M/M Beswick stock. (Maidstone Race Ladies cup & Nom won by M/M Beswick 1145 and the £10 ring nom won by Hill Bros 1000.)

Whitby Premier Club. 11 members sent 162 birds with the red card for the 5th time with y/b going to Stan & Robert Mallinson on 1723 with a darkness cock flown on the sliding doors, bred from direct stock from Van den Brande Bros of Berlaar. Second place went to Storr Bros & Son on 1718 having a good y/b season. They timed a natural Janssen hen bred by Ken Monks of Rotherham she was also 2nd club last week. Third place went to Brian & Jason of Storr Bros & Son again on 1710 with a darkness hen bred off a D.P Wells of Hartlepool Smit V Winckle x Legiest Janssen from Simon Parkinson of Scunthorpe. Fourth place went to Storr & Son on 1708 Club President Richard had a good day with his small team (3) with a natural cock off Stan & Robert Mallinson stock which he got some time ago and have served him well.

Scarborough Social Club. 3 members sent 108 birds with the red card and the next three positions going to Terry & Paul Douthwaite on 1771, 1712, 1708 and 1700 with their Philips x Willy Vranken they also won the 6 bird nom. Well Done Terry while Paul is on his holiday’s.

Cayton Bay I. Club. 7 sent 151 birds with the red card going to Mr & Mrs Lawton on 1717 no details given. Second place went to Mr Plant on 1699 with self- bred bird off Alwyin Paddy stock. Third and Fourth went to Mr G Plant on 1694 and 1679 with a pair of gift birds of Ronny Miller.

Filey Homing Society. 7 members sent 102 birds with the red card went to Colin Smith on 1725 with a Van Loon x Janssen. Second place went to Hotham & Ruston on 1703 with a Van Loon hen bred by Brian Bolton which was 4th from Maidstone. Third place went to Hotham & Ruston again on 1700 with a Slatey hen bred off Duncan Ferguson stock. Fourth place went to Colin Smith again on 1675 with a Kerry & Ricky Janssen.

Central Section:

Little Weighton Club. 4 members sent 87 birds with the red card going to father and Son partnership Graham & Chris Revell on 1579 taking their 4th win with one of their distance Busschaert trained hard for the Nationals and the bloodlines are from three national winners. Second on 1578 and fourth places on  went to Les Pollard another hard trainer with his Soontjen family, Les having his first y/b race due to holiday commitments. Third place went to Dennis Jackson & Arthur Fletcher on 1572 who trained every day this week but where not able to break the Revell strangle hold on the red cards, Dennis would like to point out that the Revells give 4 miles over fly to most of the club.

Cavalier Homing Society. 7 members sent 81 birds with the red card going to Mark Taylor on 1759 with a K. H. Green breed. Second place went to Mark Taylor again on 1667. Which was also out of K. Green pigeons. Third place went to Mr & Mrs L. Barker & Son on 1625 with a Janssen out of Mick Clarke stock. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Hall on 1620 with a Busschaert out of federation winners.

North Hull Club. 5 members sent 34 birds with the red card going to Paul Stow on 1636 with a Janssen cock sitting eggs Paul has now had 4 x 1st. Second place went to cake man Mr. Kipling on 1635 and having an exceedingly good day taking all the pools with a pigeon bred out of Dave Bibby stock. Third place went to B. Kipling again on 1630 with a pigeon bred out of Terry Hutchinson stock. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Hadley & Son on 1624 with one of Steve’s wife’s pure Venners hen which has had many cards.

Hull Chalk Lane Club. 12 members sent 180 birds with the red card going to Brian Jefferson on 1685 with a gift bird from Paul Gorog bred from champion 21 now at stock. Second place went to R & D Platten on 1680 with a Janssen x Van den Bosch cock. Third place went to George Rudd on 1663 with a Leo Van Rijn x Janssen cock from Dave Chaffer winning all the pools and top bird also a Combine Breeder Buyer bird. Fourth place went to J & A E Norris on 1660 with a Steve Surrey from Essex Delbar x Busschaert gift cock.

Hull Millennium Club. 9 members sent 164 birds taking his fourth red card on the trot is Kevin Green on 1699 with a hen bred through  ‘The Ark’ and was racing to a perch. Second place went to Vic & Jenny Moody & Rebecca Turner on 1684 with a Marcel Sanger x Cess Bosua hen racing to the loft. Third and Fourth places went to Kevin Green with a brace of young cocks bred through ‘The Ark’ on 1681 and 1651 The two cocks were racing to pot eggs.  

Driffield Homing Society. 16 members sent 322 birds with the red card going to P & A Woodmansey on 1706 with a Vandenabeele off Syd Day stock. Second place went to J. Raines on 1699 with a De Miracle Janssen off Pages of Pickering stock. Third place went to J. Raines again on 1697 with another of his De Miracle Janssen off Pages of Pickering stock Fourth place went to J. Hubbard & Son on 1689 with a Busschaert off Massarella stock. E. Potter & Son with the pools and Beryl Ringrose won the Bonus Ball. Well don Beryl.

Eastrington Rose & Crown. 10 members sent 213 birds with the red card going to S. Etherington on 1692 with a Berlinger Delbars.  Second place went to S. Etherington again on 1689 with a  Berlinger Delbars x Venner from Bill Brown, both are paired together and racing home to their orange box!! Third place went to Mr & Mrs Hagston & Family on 1621 (still on the M&M’s with a Bob Pendlebury Herman x Percy short of Carlington long distance blood.  Fourth place went to G. Atkinson on 1563 with a Van Hove x Jan Aarden he also won the rollover nom and the Hagstons Butcher meat prize.

  Coastal South Section:

Bridlington D.F.C. 12 members sent 239 birds with the red card and the next three positions going to Bolton & Williamson on 1703, 1700, 1697 and 1691 with his excellent Planet Van Loon family. Brian also had an excellent one in the Europe Classic race coming 2nd.

Bridlington Eastside. 8 members sent 98 birds with the red card going to Terry Leese on 1625 with a Soontjen hen. Second place went to Norman Robinson on 1616 with a red hen out of a brother sister pairing and has already had a 3rd.  Third place went to Terry Leese on 1607 with another Soontjen hen. Fourth place went to M. Horner on 1591 with a pied cock well done to Mrs Horner who is doing a fine job for Mick.

Bridlington D.R.P.C. 10 members sent 259 with the red card going to I & T.  Hutchinson on 1709 these two make a habit of winning Sleaford this time with a Dave Brackenby of Boston gift bird. Second place went to Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse on 1692 with one of their super Deighton & Lister Vandenabeels. Second place went to Wayne & Mandy Sellars on 1688 with a Janssen bred from gift birds off Terry Kershaw. Fourth place went to Kerry Mellonby & Ricky Wheelhouse on 1686 with a Deighton & Lister x M & D Evans Vandenabeele.

Withernsea Homing Society. 4 members sent 110 birds with the red card going to Alec & Margaret Dodson on 1493 with a pied cock bred from their Mr Reliable crossed with a hen from Rob Keelty. Second place went to Alec & Margaret Dodson again on 1477 with a pigeon bred from their Mr McTavish Clermont winner x their Bourges hen, this pigeon also won from Peterborough. Third place went to Gordon Cooper on 1283 having his first race of the y/b season with a Van Hee. Fourth place went to Trevor Robinson on 1258 with a bird off Jim Biss Napoleon family.

Hornsea & District. 4 members sent 104 birds with the red card and the next three places going to Phil & June Edmonds on 1671 with another of his Van Loon’s their second bird on 1667 with a Soontjen. Third and Fourth on 1641 and 1533 with another pair of Van Loons. 

Hedon Flying Club. 7 members sent 182 birds with the red card going to Martin Weaver on 1546 with a TBO Van Loon x Vandenabeele. Second place went to Mr & Mrs Lister on 1536 with a Soontjen. Third place went to Martin Weaver again on 1518 with an M & D Evans Vandenabeele. Martin’s pigeons were both first timers. Fourth place went to Mr & Mrs Lister again on 1511 with one of his secret Janssens from Holland.

Western Section

Acomb W.M.H.S. 14 members sent 213 birds with the red card going to Cashmore and Miller on 1834 with a Roman Legiest. Second place went to Cashmore and Miller on 1815 with an Eric Vermanders. Third place went to B & P Craven on 1811 with a Vandekerhove bird. Fourth place went to T. Simpson & Son on 1811 with an Alwyn Paddy Herman.

Burton Lane Club. 3 members sent 9 birds and the red card went to R. Lee on 1761 with a Staf Van Reet x Wildemeersch from Bill Shaw lines. Second place went to Myers & Rose on 1563 with a Lefebre Dhaenens. Third place went to Eric Harris on 1556 with a Busschaert. Fourth place went again to Myers & Rose on 1556.

Clifton Homing Society. Only one member sent I. Scaife on 1602, 1599, 1584.

Norton I. Flying Club. 11 members sent 175 birds with the red card going to B. Ford & Sons on 1785 with a Smit Van Winkle x Janssen cock. Second place went to B. Ford & Sons again on 1784 with a Janssen x Vandenabeele hen. Third place went to B. Ford & Sons yet again on 1783 with another Smit Van Winkle x Janssen hen. Fourth place went to B. Ford & Sons again on 1782 with one of their Janssens, all these birds are flying to the perch. 

Pocklington H. Society. 3 members sent 72 birds with the red card going to J. Suggitt on 1730, 1718, 1708, 1680 no details as John is on holiday but all were clocked by stand in loft manager Dave Goddard.
