DERBY BURTON NOTES

Saturday June 15th and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Fougeres for the second of their federation special races. The pigeons were liberated at 07-00 in a fresh west south west wind and made easy work of their journey back home with leading velocities into the 1700ypm.
In Kilburn Club five members sent 33 birds with K. Foulke having a good day taking three of the first four positions. His winner was a yearling red cock doing 1722 followed by a three-year-old dark hen doing 1675 in second, and a four year old blue hen in fourth doing 1631.In third was Stuart Wainwright with a yearling red hen doing 1633.
The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Kingsdown and the pigeons were liberated at 11-15 in a strong south wind.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society sixteen members sent 149 birds. Taking the first three were Paul & Lynda Todd. Their winner was a two year old cheq cock doing 1819 followed by a two year old ch/wf hen doing 1808 then a two year old cheq hen doing 1807.In fourth with a three year old dk/ch cock doing 1780 was Dave Waddington.

In Holbrook six members sent 89 birds with Trevor Jennings taking three of the first four positions. His first two were both yearling hens doing 1802 & 1781 followed by a three year old cheq hen doing 1757 taking fourth. In third was B & S Stone with a four year old blue hen doing 1763.
In Etwall & District Flying Club ten members sent 125 birds and getting the red card with a two year old pied hen doing 1797 was A. Peach & Son followed by Tony & June Whitehurst in second & third with a two year old cheq hen doing 1754 and a three year old mealy cock doing 1751.In fourth was Steve Billings with a five year old c/w/f cock doing 1749.
