Saturday May 18th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Kingsdown. The pigeons were liberated at 11-15 in a light north, north east wind. In Osmaston Park Homing Society had twenty-one members sending 298 birds with Dave Waddington taking the top two positions with a three-year-old dk/cheq cock taking the red card doing 1368 followed by a yearling mealy cock doing 1358 in second. Third place went to Mick Fearn with a yearling cheq hen doing 1355 with Shenston Brothers in fourth with a yearling cheq hen doing 1353.

In Holbrook eight members sent 131 birds. Getting the red card was K. Mathews with a two-year-old blue cock doing 1341 followed by K. Paddock in second with a three-year-old blue cock doing 1340. D & A Swift were third with a yearling blue cock doing 1329 followed by Mr & Mrs K Salt in fourth with a yearling ch/w/f cock doing 1323.
Etwall & District Flying Club had ten members sending 165 birds and taking the red card was Sam Phillips with a yearling blue cock doing 1335 also winning a £20 special and a pork pie which was very kindly donated by Hackwood farm proprietors Neil & Georgia Crofts. In second was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with a two-year-old cheq pied cock doing1306.In third with a yearling pied hen doing 1302 was Willy Horton followed by A. Peach & Son in fourth with a two-year-old blue hen doing 1297.

In Kilburn five members sent 108 birds and were at Marlborough with the Derby Burton & District South Federation. The pigeons were basketed Saturday for a Sunday race and were liberated at 07-30 in a light north wind. Taking three of the four positions was Fouke with two slatey hens being his first two pigeons. The first one doing 1444 taking the red card and the other doing 1408.3 in third, followed by a dark hen doing 1395 in fourth. In second with a blue cock doing 1408.5 was Stuart Wainwright.
