The Derby Burton and District South Road Federation race controllers made the decision to put their Newbury Race on the 27th April back twenty-four hours due to the presence of storm Hannah, so the pigeons were basketed Saturday for a Sunday Race. There were seventy-four members sending 1410 birds which were liberated at 09-30 in a light north west wind.

Topping the fed was Selston Members S & K Purdy with a yearling cheq cock doing 1286.4. Taking the next three was Woodhouse members Mr & Mrs A Jackson who had three together. The first pigeon was a two year old doing 1280.8 followed by two yearling cheq cocks both doing 1280.1.Woodhouse members G.J. Jones & Proctor took fifth & ninth positions .Both their pigeons were yearling blue cocks doing 1277.5 & 1270.0.Sixth & tenth positions went to B & C Brelsford & Son Woodhouse with a yearling blue hen doing 1277.3 and a two year old blue pied cock doing 1266.4.M & L Herbert Poolsbrook took seventh with a two year old cheq hen doing 1276.8.

The south section belonged to Selston members with S & K Purdy taking top spot also sixth with two yearling cheq cocks doing 1286.4.and 1230.0. Second section went to Buxton with a three-year-old blue cock doing 1265.1.R & M Duffield took third with a three-year-old cheq cock doing 12147.6 with D. Hadfield in fourth with a yearling blue cock doing 1237.8 followed by D. Willis & Family in fifth with a two year old cock doing 1231.8.
In the north section the first five places belonged to Woodhouse members with Mr & Mrs A. Jackson taking the top three with a two year old doing 1280.8 followed by two yearling cheq cocks doing 1280.1.Fourth went to Jones & Proctor with a yearling blue cock doing 1277.5 followed by B & C Brelsford & Son in fifth with a with a yearling blue hen doing 1277.3.Sixth position went to M & L Herbert Poolsbrook with a two year old cheq hen doing 1276.8.

Hadfield in fourth with a yearling blue cock doing 1237.8.
In Woodhouse Mr & Mrs A Jackson take the first three with a two-year-old doing 1280.8 taking the red card followed by two yearlings both doing 1280.1. In fourth was G.J. Jones & Proctor with a yearling blue cock doing 1277.5.
In Poolsbrook M & L Herbert took most of the spoils taking three of the first four positions with the red card going to a two-year-old cheq hen doing 1276.8 followed by a three year old cheq hen doing 1221.0 taking third then a two year old blue hen doing 1213.2 to take fourth. In second with a two year old cheq cock doing 1232.5 was Jepson & Bennett.
In Railway Inn North D. Poole took the first two positions with two, two-year-old blue cocks doing 1250.1 & 1248.9. Third & fourth went to V. Derricott & T. Poole with a yearling blue hen doing 1239.6 & a two-year-old blue hen doing 1216.7.
D. Trow made it a clean sweep in Swallownest with a yearling blue cock doing 1246.5 taking the honours followed by a three-year-old blue pied cock doing 1217.4 in second then a yearling blue cock doing 1202.9 then a four-year-old blue cock doing 1196.8 in fourth.
In Park Broughtons, Geelan & Goodwin took the red card with a two year old cheq cock doing 1243.0 followed by T & H Garner & Morton in second with a yearling blue cock doing 1236.6.In third was M. Bower & Son with a two year old cheq hen doing 1234.9 with K & M Wolstenholme in fourth with a two year old doing 1233.9.
South Normanton winner was R. Slingsby who also took second. His winner was a four-year-old cheq hen doing 1180.8 followed by a three-year-old blue pied hen doing 1156.9. Third went to R. Black with a yearling cheq pied cock doing 1146.1 with F & M Groom in fourth with a two year old dark cheq cock doing 1128.2.
In Storey Arms J. Barker made it back to back wins with a yearling blue cock doing 1173.3 with a three-year-old blue cock doing 1101.9 taking third. In second was Abd Spiby with a three year old pied cock doing 1130.2 with K J Walker in fourth with a yearling cheq hen doing 1079.6.
In Kilburn club Keith Cresswell takes the top two spots with a two-year-old blue cock claiming the red card doing 1070.4 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 1069.5 taking second. In third with a three-year-old dark hen doing 1068.1was K. Foulke followed by S. Wainwright in fourth with a yearling blue hen doing 1016.1.
