Saturday December 1st was the date for the annual prize distribution of the Etwall & District Flying Club which was held at the British Legion Club Repton.In the absence of our president Jim Summers who unfortunately could not make it due to a recent knee operation ( Get better soon Jim ) Sam Phillips did the honours of M.C. for the evening. Sam gave a short speech welcoming everyone (members & guests) then went on to give a speech on Jims behalf thanking first of all our secretary Alan Peach for all the hard work he has done once again over the season making sure the club runs in a smooth and efficient manor (Thanks Alan).Then went on to thank all the members for all the work and the commitment they have all given once again. Sam went on to introduce our guest of honour for the evening Fred Clark former Burton & South Derbyshire Federation secretary with the prize presentation then getting under way.

Top prize winner for the 2018 season was club secretary A Peach & Son winning 7x1sts, 7x2nds, 4x3rds , 8x4ths & breeder of the second in the buyer race. Old bird average cup, Inland average cup,1st special race shield, N.Kellett shield and total winnings of £562.09.Next came Dave Williams & Son winning 7x1sts,4x2nds,1x3rd,2x4ths & second in the bre

eder buyer race. Messac cup, J.Childs nominated shield, P.Bevan shield & the silver horse shoe shield  and total winnings of £399.17.Sam Phillips came next winning 1x1st,3x2nds,2x4ths and 1st breeder buyer, Kingsdown special race cup, Kingsdown shield, Young bird average cup and total winnings of £317.63.Next was Mr & Mrs A Houldsworth winning 5x1sts,4x2nds,6x3rds & 4x4ths with totol winnings of £309.69.Next came Mr & Mrs A J Whitehurst winning 4x1sts,3x2nds,3x3rds & 2x4ths plus breeding the winner of the breeder buyer race. Peter & Shelia Harrison were next winning 2x1sts, 1x2nd,1x3rd & 1x4th.Old bird Average cup, Overseas Average cup, Combine Average cup, Reuben Hough cup,& Messac cup and winnings of £208.19..Next came Willy Horton winning 1x1st,1x2nd & 1x3rd and winnings of £51.89.Next up was Mick Leszczyszak winning 2x2nds,2x3rds & 2x4ths winning prize money of £43.26.Ladies race winner was Shirley Harrison and runner up was Karen Leszczyszak. Winner of the golden Horse shoe award went to Steve Billings and winner of the silver horse shoe award went to Dave Williams. These two awards are awarded annually by our president Jim Summers each year and were awarded to Dave & Steve for their impeccable work they have done for the club over the 2018 season and they were very well deserved. Sadly Dave Williams is having to retire from the sport and will be missed by all as he is a keen competitor and a tireless worker for the club. We wish you all the best Dave in any future ventures you may undertake. The members would like to thank Alan Peach (secretary) for all the work he has done once again over the 2018 season also the officials for all the work they have done making the club run in a well organised manor. A big thank you to Fred Clark who came along to present the prizes. Ann Faulkner who put on a excellent buffet once again and Sam Phillips who did a excellent job with the raffle making £128 also standing in as M.C. for the evening ( Thanks Sam ).Finally Neil Crofts for the very large the pork pie from Hackwood Farm shop which was made to their own recipe and was absoutley to die for. (Thanks Neil).
