Saturday July 21st saw the start of the young bird programme for both the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation.
The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation got theirs away at Hullavington at 09-15 with no wind given. In Etwall & District Flying Club it was the partnership of Tony & June Whitehurst who took the first two positions with a Cheq hen doing 1360 and a mealy cock doing 1359.Their winner was purchased from Rick Spears and their second pigeon was bred out of their Rick & Spiers pigeons. In third position was Willy Horton with a grizzle cock doing 1347 followed by Dave Williams with a red cock doing 1339.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Hall & Torry get the red card with a Cheq hen doing 1338 followed by a red hen doing 1301 to take fourth. In second was Glew & ODonnell with a with a Cheq hen doing 1337 with Mick Fearn in third with a Cheq hen doing 1313.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation liberated theirs 08-30 at Windrush in a light north east wind. In Kilburn Welfare Keith Cresswell takes the red card with a Cheq cock doing 1272 with Keith Foulke taking the next three with a dark hen doing 1263 followed by a blue cock doing 1262 then a Cheq hen doing 1252.
