Saturday 21st April saw the start of the season for the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation with their opening event from Hullavington.The pigeons were liberated at 09-15 in a light east north east wind.In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club getting of to a great start to the season was John & Pamela Dowd making a clean sweep taking the first four positions doing 1582,1566,1538 & 1536.Their winner was a three year old blue cock getting its third red card followed by a two year old blue cock which was a previous fed special race winner then a blue yearling cock which was bred by Dave Willis with a two year old cheq hen in fourth.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Stone takes the red card with a yearling blue cock doing 1548 followed by Mick Fearn with a yearling cheq cock doing 1465.In third position was John & Steve Hicks doing 1459 with a three year old blue cock with Dave Waddington in fourth with a yearling blue cock doing 1455.

In Etwall & District Flying Club it was a good day for Steve Billings taking three of the first four positions with velocities of 1487,1462 & 1448.His winner was a two year old blue cock followed by a blue cock and a cheq cock both four year olds.In second position with a blue yearling hen doing 1478 was Alan & Liz Houldsworth.

Derby Premier were at Windrush with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation and the pigeons were basketed Saturday for a Sunday race due to problems with their transporter.In Derby Premier Paul & Lynda Todd made it a clean sweep taking the first four positions.Their winner was a two year old blue cock doing 1800 which was bred by Steve Foster.Their second pigeon was a three year old cheq hen doing the same velocity followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1799 then a yearling cheq hen doing 1798.

In the Brackens Flying Club Jason & Karen Phillips took three of the first four positions doing 1414,1373 & 1343 with Woolley & Rogers in second doing 1405
