The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Portland for their final race of the season which was also their federation special race. After a one day holdover due to unfavourable weather conditions the pigeons were liberated Sunday September 21st 2014 at 09-15 in a brisk north wind.
In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Rob Pearson finishes his excellent young bird season with a clean sweep with a blue hen doing 1210.2 followed by a cheq hen doing 1210.1 then a b/w/f hen doing 1209.8 and a cheq hen doing 1209.5.
In Derby South Road Flying Club Dave Waddington takes the the red card with a red cock doing 1177 followed by a cheq hen doing 1158 to take third position. In second position with a dk/w/f cock doing 1169 was Roy Gregory & Son with Brailsford & Doyle in fourth with a cheq hen doing 1147.
In Etwall & District Flying Club Sam Phillips finishes the season taking three of the first four positions with the red card going to a blue hen doing 1136 followed by a ch/wf cock doing 1057.7 then a blue hen doing 1052. In second position was Dave Williams & Son with a cheq hen doing 1057.7.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society getting the red card for the fourth week in succession was Pat Tillson with a blue cock doing 1118 (last week's winner). In second & third positions with a blue hen doing 1114 and a blue cock doing 1087 was Mick Stone with Ron Hall in fourth with a blue cock doing 1086.
In the Silver Ghost Homing Society it turned out to be a two loft race with Reuben Hough taking three of the first four positions. Reuben's winner was a cheq hen doing 1061 followed by a dk/cheq cock doing 1001 then a blue cock doing 971. In second position with a blue hen doing 1051 was Fred Stevenson.
