For their final old bird race of the year the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Saintes and the pigeons were basketed Tuesday and were liberated Friday at 06-05 in a light north west wind.
In Etwall & District Flying Club Paul Williams got the winner also second Burton & South Derbyshire Federation with a four-year old b/cheq cock doing 935 followed by a three year old cheq /w/f cock doing 736 to take second position in the club and twelfth fed. In third & fourth positions with a two year old cheq cock doing 531 and a three year old cheq cock doing 476 was Mr & Mrs A J Whitehurst.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society Bob Ford got the only pigeon in race time a four year old Louella Busschaert who is no stranger to the channel doing 841. This pigeon also won 1st Saintes 2013 second fed.
In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Rick Shelton took first & third positions with a yearling pied cock doing 741 and a three year old cheq cock doing 544 his first pigeon being 11th fed. In second position was Mr & Mrs John Dowd with a yearling cheq cock doing 544.
Derby Premier were also at Saintes with Derby Burton & District South Road Federation and were basketed Tuesday and were liberated Friday at 06-30. The only pigeon home in race time was a two year old blue hen doing 591 for Paul & Lynda Todd putting the icing on the cake for this man & wife partnership finishing of an excellent old bird season.
