DERBY NOTES

Saturday April 26th 2014 and Derby Premier were at Windrush with the Derby Burton & District South Road Derbyshire Federation and the pigeons were liberated at 10.00 in a south wind. Taking three of the first four positions was the Oakwood loft of Paul & Lynda Todd doing 1912, 1892 & 1890. Their winner was a four year old blue hen then a yearling blue hen followed by a seven year old ch/wf hen. In second position with a yearling red cock doing 1903 was John & David Coote.

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Hullavington and were liberated at 09-45 in a strong south wind.

In Etwall & District Flying Club Steve Billings takes three of the first positions doing 2065,2027 & 2026. His winner was a two year old cheq cock followed by a five year old cheq cock with his third pigeon being a two year old ch/wf cock. Alan Peach & Son took second position doing 2039 with a three year old grizzle cock.

Getting the first pigeon into Derby was the Silver Ghost Flying Club's winner Brian Dyjas who also took third doing 2014 & 1931. His winner was a blue cock bred by Billy Beastall of Borrowash and his second pigeon was a b/cheq cock. In second position was Rueben Hough doing 1946 with the same pigeon that was second the previous week. Fourth position went to Tom Chadwick with a b/cheq cock bred by club mate Mick Willis.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Willis & Family take top spot doing 2003.9 with a blue cock which has already 3x1sts to its credit and is bred from the old red bloodlines. S & H W Hall of Little Eaton took the next three positions doing 1996, 1983 & 1908. All the pigeons were yearling hens and were bred from his Alan Brassington blood lines.

In Derby South Road Club taking three of the first four positions was John & Steve Hicks doing 2003,2002 & 1984. Their winner was a two year old mealy cock. Their second pigeon was a four year old blue cock followed by a yearling blue cock. In third position was Mathew Yule doing 1996 with a two year old blue cock. In their five bird section Mathew Yule gets the winner doing 1990. John & Steve Hicks take second position doing 1984 with Mathew Yule in third doing 1983 followed by Roy Gregory & Son in fourth doing 1957.

In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club it was a clean sweep for John & Pam Dowd taking the first four positions doing 1915, 1849, 1878 & 1875. Their winner was a yearling cheq cock followed by a five year old cheq cock followed by a four year old blue cock then a two year old blue cock.
