Osmaston Park Homing Society 2013 Presentation

The Osmaston Park Homing Society recently held their annual prize distribution at their new headquarters The Meadows. Presenting the prizes and chief guest for the evening was Tony Whitehurst.

Top prize winner for the 2013 season and first up to the table was Mick Fearn winning 6x1sts, 4x2nds, 6x3rds, 5x4ths plus 11 minor cards winning highest prize winners trophy old bird inland average trophy, winning prize money of £183. In the self supporting races Mick won 2x1sts, 1x2nd & 1x3rd winning prize money of £19.67 making a total of £202.73.

Runner up was Mick Stone winning 4x1sts, 6x2nds, 5x3rds, 1x4th plus 4 minor cards winning prize money of £136.08 plus £32 gold ring race money winning Combine Average trophy plus young bird averages and total winnings of £168.08.

Next came S & H W Hall winning 1x1st, 4x2nds, 3x3rds, 2x4ths plus 8 minor cards and prize money of £89.10 plus breeder buyer money £120 also gold race ring money of £70 also winning Ken Hall memorial trophy and Grieg Reece Evans shield with total winnings of £279.10.

Nicholson Brothers were next winning 2x1sts, 2x2nds, 3x4ths plus 3 minor cards winning prize money of £58.32 plus £2.73 in the self supporting race £75 in the gold ring race also winning the Carentan cup with total winnings of £136.06.

Next came Mick Willis & Family winning 2x1sts, 2x2nds, 1x3rd, 1x4th plus two minor cards with prize money of £51.84 plus £7.74 in the self supporting race making a total of £59.58.

Rueben Hough came next winning 1x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 3x4ths plus 4 minor cards winning prize money of £45.36 plus £2.73 from the self supporting race £64 gold ring race money highest winning velociety trophy (2119 ypm) making a total of £112.09.

Next came hard working secretary Steve Stone winning 1x1st, 2x3rds, 3x4ths plus 2 minor cards with prize money of £40.50. Gold ring race money of £180, self supporting race money of £4.30, breeder buyer money £150 winning a total of £374.80.

Bob Ford came next winning 2x1sts, 1x2nd, 1x3rd plus 1 minor card with prize money of £37.26 also winning Saintes two bird average donation of £50. Bob also won Saintes trophy, Messac shield, lowest winning velociety trophy (825 ypm). Bird of the year trophy. Winner of bird of the year is a white grizzle cock GB 11 V 26606 winning 7th club Carentan 250 miles, 3rd club Messac 353 miles and 2nd club 3rd fed Saintes beaten by loft mate winning 1st club 2nd fed Saintes which was a very hard race. This pigeon was bred by club mate John Hassee.

Ron Hall came next winning 1x1st, 1x2nd & 2x4ths winning prize money of £27.54 also winning gold ring race money of £12 with total winnings of £39.54.

Next came John & Steve Hicks winning 1x1st & 1x3rd winning prize money of £16.20 plus Yelverton donation of £50 making their total winnings of £66.20 also winning the longest young bird race trophy.

Next came Terry Budd winning 1x3rd plus 1 minor card winning prize money of £8.10 plus gold ring race money of £10 making a total of £18.10.

Next up was Mick Frawley winning 1 minor card and prize money of £3.24 plus gold ring race money of £20 making a total of £23.24.

Next came Woolley & Rogers winning 1 minor card and prize money of £3.24.

Next came Mr & Mrs J Phillips winning 1st breeder buyer £150. Followed by Pat Tillson who bred 2nd breeder winning £100. Buying his own youngster back and winning 2nd breeder buyer race winning £100 making a total of £200.

Receiving the sports person of the year trophy for the 2013 season was Shaun Willis. Total payout for the 2013 season was £1920.02. This was followed by a buffett and the evening was enjoyed by all.
