Saturday May 25th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Carentan for the first of their federation special races. They also held an inland race from Wincanton. The pigeons from Carentan were liberated at 08-30 in a brisk north east wind. In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club taking the red card plus second position was Richard & Mark Duffield doing 1175 & 1167. Their winner was a two year old blue cock followed by a two year old slatey hen. Third & fourth positions went to Rick Shelton doing 1165 & 1141. Both Rick's pigeons were three year old cocks. In Osmaston Park Homing Society taking the red card was the Spondon loft of Nicholson Brothers (Colin & Maurice) with a two year old b/cheq hen doing 1140. Taking second & fourth positions was the Little Eaton loft of Ron Hall doing 1136 & 1116. Ron's first pigeon was a yearling b/cheq hen followed by a two year old b/pied cock. Taking third position with a yearling red hen was Terry Budd doing 1127. In Etwall & District Flying Club Paul Williams gets the winner also third position doing 1125 & 1104. Both Paul's pigeons were three year old cocks. In second position doing 1106 with a yearling hen was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with fourth position going to Steve Billings doing 1087 with a three year old cheq cock. In Derby South Road Flying Club the Mackworth loft of Mick Leszczyscak gets the winner also third position doing 1105 & 1043. Mick's winner was a two year old cheq cock followed by a four year old cheq hen. Second position went to John Coote of Chaddesden with a three year old blue cock doing 1053 with fourth position going to Brailsford & Doyle doing 1026 with a yearling ch/pied hen.

Derby Premier were at Falaise with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation and were liberated at 10-00 in a east north east wind. Taking the first two positions and winning for the fourth consecutive week was the Oakwood loft of Paul & Lynda Todd doing 1061 & 1038. Their winner was a four year old b/w/f hen followed by a two year old blue cock. Third position went to Ernie Barker doing 960 with a two year old b/w/f hen and these were the only three birds home on the day. The Wincanton pigeons were liberated at 09-30 in a north east wind.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society it turned out to be a two loft race with Mick Fearn of Little Eaton taking the first three positions doing 1335&1334.3 & 1334. Mick's winner was a two year old b/pied cock. His second pigeon was a three year old b/pied cock followed by a five year old blue cock. In fourth position was Nicholson Brothers (Colin & Maurice) doing 1316 with a yearling b/ch hen. In Ilkeston Bulls Flying Club John Dowd takes first & fourth positions doing 1327 & 1322. John's winner was a two year old cheq hen which had not been raced for two years and his second pigeon was a three year old slatey cock. In second position was Richard & Mark Duffield doing 1326 with a yearling blue hen with Rick Shelton in third position doing 1324 with a thre year old blue cock. In Etwall & District Flying Club Paul Williams makes it a double getting the winner doing 1330 with a yearling blue cock. This pigeon winning for the second consecutive week. Second position went to Steve Billings doing 1279 with a three year old blue cock with Alan & Liz Houldsworth in third & fourth positions doing 1268 & 1267. Their first pigeon was a four year old and their second pigeon was a yearling both blue cocks.
