Hullavington into Burton and S Derbyshire 

The 2020 racing season finally got under way on Saturday 6th June  for the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation who were at Hullavinhton, after a delayed start to the season due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. Although the forecast for Saturday did not look 100 % the race advisors saw a window for a early morning liberation and our convoyer/driver Alys got the pigeons away at 08-00 in a strong westerly wind.


Paul & Lynda Todd Osmaston Park Homing Society Winners.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society 23 members sent 393 birds with Paul & Lynda Todd taking the red card with a three year old blue cock doing 1771 followed by a three year old cheq cock doing 1731.3 to take fourth.In second with a yearling blue cock doing 1751 was Dave Waddington with John & Steve Hicks in third with a three year old blue cock doing 1731.5.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 7 members sent 136 birds.Taking the first two positions was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with a five year old cheq cock taking the red card doing 1687 followed by a  three year old pencil cock doing 1685.In third was Tony & June Whitehurst with a mealy cock doing 1645 with A.Peach & Son in fourth doing 1623 with a yearling blue cock.

D & A Swift got the winner in Holbrook where 7 members sent 202 birds.Taking the red card was a yearling blue cheq hen doing 1678.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation basketed Saturday for a Sunday race from Upper Heyford with the pigeons being liberated at 07-35 in a west wind with plenty of sunshine & blue skies at the liberation site.In Kilburn Club 6 members sent 124 birds and taking the red card was Keith Cresswell with a yearling blue cock doing 1275.Taking the next three positions was Keith Foulkes with a four year old dark hen doing 1255 then a three year old dark cock doing 1202 followed by a four year old cheq hen doing 1187.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Marlborough and got their pigeons away at 09-45 in a east south east wind.The Kilburn Club saw 4 members sending 80 pigeons. Getting back to back wins was Keith Cresswell with a yearling blue cock doing 1598.Taking second & third was Keith Foulkes with a three year old red cock and a two year old slatey hen both doing 1311.Fourth position went to R.Parkin & Hall with a two year old blue hen doing 1290.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 22 members sent 360 birds with the red card going to Mick Stone with a three year old blue cock doing 1575.In second & third positions was Dave Waddington with two yearling cocks doing 1561 & 1537 followed by Simon Woolley ( Breeder of last years breeder buyer winner ) in fourth with a two year old cheq hen doing 1533.
In Etwall & District Flying Club 9 members sent 178 birds with A.Peach & Son return to winning ways taking the first two positions with a yearling blue cock doing 1569 taking the red card followed by a four year old b/w/f hen doing 1566.Tony & June Whitehurst took third with a three year old cheq hen doing 1528 with Peter & Shirley Harrison in fourth with a three year old cheq cock doing 1494.

In Holbrook 9 members sent 219 birds with Trevor Jennings taking three of the of the first four positions.His first two pigeons were two,two year old cheq cocks with the winner doing 1539 and his second pigeon doing 1514 to take second with a two year old cheq hen doing 1500 in fourth.In third position with a yearling blue hen doing 1506 was D & A Swift.
