Derby Notes - 06-10-20

Saturday September 19th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Honiton for their young bird federation special race which turned out to be a tough race. The pigeons were liberated at 11:40 in a strong north east wind.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 12 members sent 112 birds with the in-form loft of Dave Waddington continuing to dominate taking three of the first four positions and making it four wins in a row. His winner was a blue cock doing 1128 followed by a Cheq cock doing 1119 then a blue cock doing 1068 taking fourth. In third position were Paul & Lynda Todd with a blue hen doing 1072.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 6 members sent 65 birds with A.Peach & Son get back to winning ways with a podium finish taking the first three positions. Their winner was a blue hen doing 1002 followed by a dark cock doing 974 then a Cheq hen doing 970.Taking fourth was Kevin Southall with a blue hen doing 964.

In Holbrook 4 members sent 14 birds with B & S Stone making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions. Their winner was a Cheq cock doing 976 followed by a grizzle hen doing 912 then a blue cock doing 902 with a blue hen doing 879 taking fourth.

The Derby Burton & District South Federation were at Newton Abbot and the pigeons were liberated at 09-00 in a east north east wind.

In Kilburn Club 2 members sent 24 birds with the red card going to Keith Foulk doing 955 and his next pigeon doing 779 to take fourth. In second & third was Stuart Wainwright doing 828 & 820.

Saturday September 26th saw the final race for the 2020 season for the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation who were at Frome. The pigeons were liberated at 10-15 in a north north west wind.

In Holbrook 3 members sent 19 birds and taking the first two positions was Mr & Mrs D.Stone doing 1205 & 1204 with third & fourth places going to  B & S Stone doing 1148 & 1088.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 7 members sent 81 birds and making it a podium finish was Paul & Lynda Todd. Their first two pigeons were Cheq cocks doing 1187.4 & 1187.0 followed by a blue hen doing 1184 with Mick Stone taking fourth with a blue hen doing 1113.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 5 members sent 53 birds with A.Peach & Son finishing of in fine style with a podium finish with a b/w/f hen taking the red card doing 1104 followed by a blue cock doing 1090 then a grizzle hen doing 1065.In fourth with a b/w/f hen doing 988 was Kevin Southall.

A Special mention to Jake Harcup who was left with only one young bird after a couple of races. This youngster was sent to all the remaining young bird races and was timed in every race. Well done Jake.
